Cookie + Jerry

How did you meet?

My cousin’s husband introduced us when we were out one night but it wasn’t an intentional set up as Jerry was planning to move interstate at that time.

How did you know he was the one?

Jerry moved interstate 3 weeks after we met and I knew he was the one then because the distance didn’t bother me at all. We just got along so well that I couldn’t imagine not being with him. After 3.5 years of long distance we finally decided to move in together.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

I love that Jerry is always striving to be the best version of himself and it is so infectious to everyone around him. He is also the biggest supporter in my life and whenever I have moments of doubt, he would always tell me how awesome I am and I can do whatever I set my heart out to do. He is caring, passionate and fun to be with.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I saw it on Instagram and fell in love with it instantly, I wasn’t sure if it would look good on me as it did on the models but I knew straight away that it was the one when I tried it on in the store.

Who proposed and how?

He surprised me with a DIY sign on our dog that said “Will you marry my Dad?” when we came home from our 8th year anniversary dinner one night. It was so sweet!

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

So many best moments!!! My favourite would be our first dance to “Dancing in the Moonlight “by Top Loader as we were literally under the moonlight with all our favourite people surrounding us. It was extra special because the entire bridal party joined in on the dance and then pulled everyone else onto the dance floor at the end – it was so much fun!

What surprised you most at or about your wedding

I was surprised at how smooth the day went! Nothing went wrong and the day was more perfect than I could have ever imagined. I was also taken back by how much fun everyone was having and bonding with each other.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t try to make it perfect! Just remember that the day is all about you and your partner. The love that you will feel on the day is just indescribable so just remember to soak it all in.

What was the one thing you did differently for your wedding?

Our dog was beside us the entire day! He didn’t miss any part of it and I am so glad our venue could allow that. We also had personalised handwritten thank you cards for each of our guests as their place cards so that they all knew how much they meant to us even if we didn’t get around to having a proper conversation with them during the night. Every guest was so touched by that.
