Christine + Michael

How did you meet?

It all started in a frat basement. No seriously, it did. It might not be the most romantic story, but it is our story.

Our enchanting love story started in the Spring of 2011 at Monmouth University in New Jersey (go Hawks!) when we both officially became members of sororities and fraternities. After six long weeks of pledging, it was finally time to celebrate our initiation with no better way than an Uncle Sam’s Paint Jam (aka wear red, white and blue and prepare to be doused in red, white and blue paint accordingly). Together we danced the night away and haven’t turned back since.

When did you know they were the one?

There wasn’t one moment set it stone. For as long as I can remember, I always knew he was the man I would marry. We have been together for over 11 years now, and not once have I ever questioned that he was the one. While Mike loves to spoil me and shower me with love, it is all the little things he does day in and day out that have always signaled to me that he is the one.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

1) His passion and dedication towards all he does. Whether it is our marriage, our home or our dogs, Mike does everything with his whole-heart.
2) His ability to always encourage me and support me in growing as a person. Mike challenges me to evolve into the best version of myself, all while accepting – and loving – my flaws.
3) His goofy personality

Who proposed and how?

After nearly 10 years of anticipation, Mike proposed to me at my favorite place – the beach – on October 3, 2020. Earlier in the day, we went apple and pumpkin picking. Mike then set up a delicious dinner on the boardwalk. We finished the night by walking along the beach under the stars, which is when Mike proposed.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my dress at Lovely Bride in NYC. It was the very first store I went to for wedding dress shopping. The Tommy Beaded was the final dress I tried on that day, and I instantly loved it! The dress was a perfect mix of timeless, but also unique. I had never seen another bride wear a dress like it. I loved the detail of the lace combined with the beading. The train of the dress had the most gorgeous lace, as well. My favorite part of the dress was the plunge V-neck with the delicate straps. It was the perfect mix of sexy, yet classy.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Oh jeez! It is impossible to pick one BEST moment, as the entire day was just pure bliss! Perhaps my favorite moment was walking down the aisle and seeing Mike for the very first time. He looked so happy and proud to be marrying me. I am also a teacher and all of my students attended the ceremony, so seeing Mike at the end of the aisle combined with all of my students cheering excitedly to see me, it is a memory and feeling I will never forget.

What were your favourite details?

I loved our florals! The touches of blue were stunning. We are also obsessed with our dogs and tried to incorporate them in many ways, such as naming our signature drinks after them and making a donation to their rescue organization in lieu of a favor. I had my students make little signs saying what love means to them, and displayed them all throughout cocktail hour, as well. Their responses were TOO CUTE!

What advice would you tell other brides?

It is easy to get caught up in the chaos of wedding planning and worrying about what other people have done, what other people will think, etc. BUT always remember no matter what happens on your day, you get to marry the love of your life. You will have the best day because you get to marry your person, all while surrounded by your loved ones.
