Christine + Stephen

How did you meet?

Stephen and I met at a former job. We were working for a tech consulting company, and didn’t actually meet for almost a year because we were both traveling so much! Our paths finally crossed when I was assigned to his project out in Honolulu, HI. In my time there, we became really close friends (with our co-workers as well!) — we worked long intense hours, spent a lot of time together because we didn’t know anyone else, and even went sky-diving together. We started dating shortly after returning to Boston. Our relationship really blossomed when we were both back on the same project again, this time in Burlington, VT. We got to know each other better on dates out at Burlington’s amazing restaurants and on the 3.5 hour drives!

When did you know they were the one?

We got along so easily from the start, it’s hard to remember a time when I didn’t know. But one of the most memorable memories was a few years ago, early in our relationship, when we were traveling with friends to the Outside Lands music festival in CA. My friend and I arrived first and picked up In-N-Out. My favorite part of that burger was actually the fresh, crisp lettuce. When we picked up Stephen from the airport, I gave him his burger and his first comment was ‘wow, good lettuce’. It felt like a sign from the universe.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner

All mentioned in my vows 🙂 — funny as hell, constant effort to make himself better, sense of adventure.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I bought my Harlie dress at Head Over Heels Boutique in Cape Cod. From the start, I knew I was looking for something different than the ‘traditional’ dress. I wanted something that would stand out in all of our guests’ memories. I knew instantly when I put on the Harlie dress, it was the one. I loved the large print, graphic lace, the bone color, and the back and train!! I felt amazing in the dress.

Who proposed and how?

Stephen proposed to me on our weekend getaway for his birthday!! He blew me away – I never would have thought that he would ask me on his own birthday. The day did not start great though. It was the end of April and we thought we could take our first hike of the spring/summer up Mt. Mansfield. Close the top, it was windy and there was low visibility. We got lost off trail in knee-high snow! We finally were able to make it back down, but it was quite the scary hike. He kept saying he would make it up to me. I never would have thought he was going to propose that night at sunset on Lake Champlain!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We haven’t taken our honeymoon yet, but plan to in 2020. Right after the wedding, we took a ‘minimoon’ in Mexico City, basically a few days of eating amazing food and exploring!
