Chantel + Alex

How did you meet?

Alex and I had classes together in college but never actually talked! We started working together summer of 2017 and I needed a plus one to my best friends wedding that October. Our research supervisor volunteered Alex as my date!

When did you know they were the one?

After dating for a few weeks it hit me that being with him was so effortless. It was as natural as breathing, I could tell him everything and anything and he would be there to be support me through it all. He made me cry from laughing so hard, inspired me to love freely, and cherished me like I knew I deserved.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Alex is endlessly supportive and encouraging with all of my endeavors. He inspires me to be the best version of myself and frequently brings me out of my comfort zone.

Alex has the most inquisitive soul, in that he continuously pushes himself (and myself) to keep learning.

Alex is by far the most warm, caring and kind person I have ever met. He genuinely cares about everyone he meets and is always willing to go the extra mile to help them if he can.

Who proposed and how?

Alex proposed February 13th 2021. We were supposed to go on a trip to Arizona with his family that week and I totally thought it would be then! I had just gotten done working the night shift at an urgent care and opened the door to our apartment to find it filled with rose petals, LED filled balloons, music and him in a suit. I thought it was for Valentine’s Day until I saw the ring banner!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my dress at a&be Bridal in Minneapolis MN! Originally I wanted something simple, like a mermaid crepe dress. I wasn’t even considering sequins but my amazing sales associate pulled it for me to “just try”. I literally could not take it off!! Always keep an open mind because you never know!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

We did a first look and I could not recommend it enough. We wanted the first time we saw each other to be personal and intimate, not in front of a crowd. We were able to make it even more special by reading our own written vows during that time. It gave us a moment at the beginning of the day to just be with each other and create such a wonderful memory.

What were your favourite details?

I loved my veil, my florals (we had a floral arch) and one of our friends has a laser engravement company so they were able to create wooden name cards for all of our guests!

What advice would you tell other brides?

Keep an open mind, don’t be afraid to ask for help and definitely don’t listen to everyone’s opinions. This is your day and it’s all about you and your future spouse. Make this day YOURS!

Any standout vendors?

My amazing photographer Taylor Ericson and my florist Ashley Skeie! They went above and beyond and I cannot thank them enough.
