Cathrine + James
How did you meet?
We met on a dating app, a modern-day love story! We always joke as we both did not know we had to set our distance preferences, and the preset distance was a very wide range. We lived an hour and a half away from one another, but after the first couple of dates, we both knew this was something different! We are glad now, as we found us forever!
When did you know they were the one?
We were sitting in the parking lot of a bowling alley, after one of our dates! We both weren’t ready to go home, so we just sat and talked the night away, giggling like two little kids. At that very moment, we both knew we had found our person. The connection we felt was unmatched!
What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?
My three favorite things about James; he would go to the ends of the earth to protect his family, he is very passionate towards the things he loves and adores, and he is likely the most dramatic person I know, it never fails to make me laugh!
Who proposed and how?
James proposed to me; he set up the most romantic, perfectly planned weekend! He made up a story and got two friends involved. Our two friends asked us to be a part of a couples photoshoot, in which we were creating content for tourism and our friend’s blog, something we have done plenty of times before. This gave James the opportunity to have me get dressed up with a photographer, without raising questions. We went to the butterfly conservatory at the Botanical Gardens in Niagara Falls, where we had the entire space to ourselves! We took one on one photos with the photographers, then when it was time to take photos as a couple, they led me around the corner where James was down on one knee, with a beautiful neon sign that said will you marry me surrounded by stunning floral arrangements. We took proposal photos on the grounds of the garden, then went to the Prince of Wales Hotel for dinner. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was a horse and carriage waiting for us, which took us for a ride around Niagara-On-The-Lake. The following day James arranged a party with both sides of our family. It was a PERFECT weekend, full of so much love!
Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?
I first fell in love with my dress on Pinterest! I immediately knew it was perfect for me! Archie is sexy and modern, yet classic and traditional, it was everything I wanted and more in a dress! When I went dress shopping, it was the first dress I tried on, and could have been the last. I continued trying on a number of other dresses for the experience, but I already knew Archie was the one! Once I said yes to the dress, I was overwhelmed with happiness and instantly started crying; a moment I will never forget!
What was the best moment for you at your wedding?
This is difficult to pick just one, but our first look was the best moment on our wedding day! The trees lining the path we were on, were in full bloom, with a gentle breeze blowing the small white floral petals around us, it made for the most perfect moment together! All our built-up nerves immediately washed away the moment we saw each other, it was so special to have an intimate moment just the two of us!
What were your favorite details?
Both of our moms have passed, and we had charms made with their photos, one for my bouquet, and one for inside James’ tux jacket. It was a small detail, but one that meant a significant amount to us! I also wore my Mother’s veil! I chose a photo of my Mom in her veil on her wedding day for my charm; it was beyond special!
What advice would you tell other brides?
Remember to slow down and enjoy each moment! Everything goes by so quickly, planning the wedding, then the actual day, remember to take time to embrace the whole experience! Hire the right vendors that complement you and your vision, then trust them to do their job! Having the right people in place will allow you to be fully present on your big day!
Any Standout vendors?
