Catherine + Aadarsh

How did you meet?

Aadarsh and I met on Hinge! Our first date was at a coffee shop and Aadarsh brought stroopwafels that he made that morning for me (plus everyone in the coffee shop) as I had mentioned how much I enjoyed them on a trip to Amsterdam. We chatted about anything and everything for a few hours until he had to leave to go play in a hockey game. Little did I know just how big of a role hockey would play in my life going forward, but the attraction was instant and the rest is history!

When did you know they were the one?

When our eyes would meet from across a room and I would just feel so safe, calm, and loved.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

I love Aadarsh’s dedication to the things he’s passionate about. He is incredibly dependable and always willing to help others. He also has a great sense of humor and always makes me laugh!

Who proposed and how?

Aadarsh proposed at Ruby Beach in Olympic National Park in May 2021. We were going to have a picnic and watch the sunset; I offered to help him unfold the blanket to get things set up but little did I know there was a ring hiding in the blanket! He started to get antsy and I had a feeling what was happening so I let him take over. He started to pull out the ring and before he even got down on one knee and said anything I said “yes”.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my Louie flowy dress online and then when I tried it on at Vows in Boston. I loved how flowy it was and how flattering it was on me. I also loved the pockets – that was a big “ooooh” moment for our guests when I pulled my vows from them. My sister and my mom were with me when I tried on the dress and both loved it as well! Aadarsh knew I had my eye on this dress and would see me looking at it online and referred to it as the “bubble wrap dress” because he thought the petal details looked like bubble wrap.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

When Aadarsh and I exchanged our wedding vows! We’d both been working on them for a long time and had no idea what each other were going to say. Both of our vows were so heartfelt and complemented each other so nicely. My husband is Indian and this wedding was the culmination of 3 days of wedding festivities, including a sangeet night, a south-Indian Hindu Tamil wedding the next morning, and our Western wedding the next afternoon. Being able to celebrate with our family and friends from all over the world for 3 straight days was so special.

What were your favorite details?

The flowers were stunning!! I saw my bouquet and our ceremony ring and was floored with just how beautiful they were. I know our florist would do a great job but seeing everything in real life the day of was incredible.

What advice would you tell other brides?

To really enjoy every moment of the wedding with your partner! Don’t let other people’s opinions influence you – plan the wedding you want and believe in!
