Cassidy + Jacob

How did you meet?

Jake messaged me on Instagram, I didn’t message back for 3 weeks and we didn’t go on a date until a month after that. I was moving 6 hours away so wasn’t looking for a relationship. However I couldn’t stop going on dates and hanging out with him. Which leads to the next question…

When did you know they were the one?

The day I was moving he was at my apartment, as we were saying goodbye, as we weren’t sure when we would see each other next and I still wasn’t sold on long distance, he had tears streaming down his face and naturally so did I. That’s when I knew that he was here to stay in my life.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

1. He has the biggest servants heart. He’s a police officer and in the military and just loves to serve and help others.

2. He’s a family man. Loves his family like no other.

3. He’s adventurous. We want to travel basically any and everywhere together.

Who proposed and how?

He proposed. He was deploying for a year. I had semi give him an ultimatum if he didn’t propose before he left then he better walk off the plane when he comes home with a ring. I was mainly joking but also knew a year commitment of being in a relationship but thousands of miles a part was a lot. I had begun to lose hope it would happen before he left. In December he said he had won a dinner and tour to the Kentucky Castle through work. I had no reason not to believe him. He had the answers to my questions about it all nailed down to a T. After dinner we started the tour and once on the rooftop terrace he asked the “tour guide” to take our picture where he got down on one knee and proposed.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I was in the process of interviewing with a new bridal salon in town when I got engaged. I was ultimately hired and when we were training and learning designers, which I knew nothing about, I discovered Made With Love. I looked through the website and saw a picture of Georgie and had a very good feeling it was the the one. Once I was able to try her on it just validated it for me. I wanted simple, classic and elegant and Georgie was just that.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

The best moment was when I saw Jake (my husband) see me walking down the aisle. He was crying which I wasn’t expecting and then I looked down and all my bridesmaids and family were crying. I was barely holding it together all the way down the aisle. I still love watching that moment of him.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

Everyone came together and did everything they could to make it perfect. We had to postpone a few weeks due to the pandemic and it was feeling very stressful. Then just seeing how amazing it turned out to look and be almost exactly what I had envisioned. I think I was just expecting it not to be close to perfect and maybe it wasn’t but that day felt like it.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Take it all in. It flies by. Looking at pictures and thinking back I wasn’t thinking to suck my tummy in or pose perfectly or thinking about little details. It’s all a blur when you’re in it so just take in the moment as much as you can.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Our dog was going to be in the wedding no question. She’s basically our child and we love her like one. She walked down the aisle and then we had a Kong filled with Peanut Butter to keep her occupied during the ceremony. She did a perfect job. What would you do differently? Probably the only thing I would do differently is have more time with my girls that day. The guys and girls separated around noon and just to spend that time with them hanging out and drinking mimosas and just feel the love with them was amazing
