Brooke + Josh

How did you meet?

We met the summer after I graduated high school, working at a golf course.

How did you know he was the one?

Right away, as cliche as that is. The first day I saw him I thought he was the most handsome man I’d ever seen. After we talked the first day of work, I was already head over heels for him. He was hilarious, strong in his faith and a hard worker. I went home that day and told my mom I’d met the man I’d marry. Funny story, he was also one of my sisters good friends at the same. When I asked her what she thought of him, she said he was one of the kindest people she knew.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Selfless, Kind and Humor

Who proposed and how?

He proposed on our favourite walk in the city, just a few days after our four year anniversary. We had our first kiss, and he’d given me a promise ring on the same walk just a few years earlier.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I saw the Ella dress on the MadeWithLove Instagram page. After searching up other brides who had worn the dress on Instagram and Pinterest, I knew it was the one. I never wanted a traditional wedding dress, I wanted something incredibly unique and bohemian. The Ella dress was the perfect fit.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

I have two favourite moments. The first is after making it down the aisle and not bawling, just joining hands with Josh and acknowledging we had made it. This was our wedding day. The second was when we received our family, and one of our uncles pulled me aside to say how happy we looked. He said it brought him so much joy to see how in love we looked.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

The biggest surprise would be how calm I felt, everyone talks about the wedding day jitters but those never came. I was beyond excited just to arrive and walk down the aisle. Also, we had a huge storm come through our venue just at our ceremony time! Luckily everyone was happy enough to wait it out. But we were fashionably late….

What advice would you tell other brides?

Your wedding day goes by too fast, slow it down and enjoy the little moments. Enjoy getting ready with your bridal party, your family, your friends, just take it all in.

What was one thing you did differently for your wedding?

We had an evening ceremony, partly due to COVID and only having a small outdoor ceremony. However, it gave us the entire day together as a bridal party. We slept in, had brunch and just enjoyed our time together. Also, our wedding photos took place during sunset which provided beautiful lighting. Don’t regret it!

What did you do differently?

Josh and I were actually in the same building (a farmhouse) as we waited for the storm to pass. All the girls were upstairs doing touch ups while the boys chatted downstairs. We started blasting music and all had a great time waiting out the storm. Josh and I even talked to each other the whole time without seeing each other.
