How did you meet?
Steve and I met at the pub. Super romantic, I know. It was really late on a Sunday evening and I had gone out with the girls to drink away the uni semester. It was very early in the morning when some creep was trying to dance with me. I wasn’t having it so I turned around and asked the first person I saw if he would be my friend. 7 years later we were married.
When did you know they were the one?
I hate to say it, but I loved him so early on. I didn’t know it was love. But we could finish each other’s sentences, always had something to talk about, and laughed all the time. We never stopped talking and we never stopped laughing.
Who proposed and how?
Steve proposed to me in our kitchen. I was in my PJs and he was still in his work uniform. He said afterward that if he had done anything too romantic, I would have known straight away and he wanted to catch me completely off guard. Which he did! Steve had the ring for about 6 months before he popped the question. He was trying to contact my father to ask for his blessing but my dad is NOTORIOUS for not answering the phone if he doesn’t recognize the number. It went on for months until Steve finally called my mum.
Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?
The Jordann was actually my second choice! I had my heart set on another MWL dress and wrote down the Jordann for a backup. As soon as I put it on though, I knew it was the one. It was me all over. I bought her from the Gold Coast boutique and Rosie was such a blessing to have there to guide me. I wore Jordann… she didn’t wear me. I felt 100% myself in this dress. It was perfect. I can’t wait to wear it again next year.
What was the best moment for you at the wedding?
We had a bit of a wild year – as did everyone else! We planned our wedding about 5 times and finally managed to tie the knot with only 3 weeks notice! We just wanted to be married and move on with our lives. We got all new vendors for the wedding day and are planning a vow renewal and reception on our 1 year anniversary with all our original vendors (which is interstate). It’s going to be such a great celebration!
What advice would you tell other brides?
My advice for other brides… it’s all going to be ok! At the end of the day, if you marry the love of your life… the ‘wedding’ was perfect. Things won’t go to plan, but honestly, marrying your love IS the plan! So just go with it.. and laugh!
What was one thing you did differently for your wedding?
What didn’t we do differently! Everything we had planned had to change. EVERYTHING. We kept our wedding a secret from all of our guests and just had our immediate family present. It was so nice to surprise everyone afterward.
Also, HUGE shoutout to all our vendors. Our wedding was put on hold due to travel restrictions. All the new QLD vendors were AMAZING to work with. Super flexible and understanding, and with only 3 – 4 weeks’ notice! Can’t thank them enough!
