Bree + Matt

How did you meet?

Matt and I actually met through his best friend that I had happened to match with on a dating site lol. It didn’t work out yet we all remained friends and would hang out, have nights out, go camping etc. After being good mates for a year we eventually had a passionate moment on a night out and we’re basically inseparable since that point.

When did you know they were the one?

When we shared a kiss under the IBIS hotel shower (so romantic ) and stared passionately into each others eyes. We could both feel it and I knew from that exact moment that we had something so special and Matt was my person for life.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

– He is extremely grounded and levelheaded (which helps me come back to earth)
– He is the funniest person I know and tears of laughter are a daily in this house
– He is incredibly supportive and I know he has my back for any of my goals and dreams.

Who proposed and how?

He did! We were a week into our three week New Zealand road trip. We were at Mt Egmont national park and had hiked up to the most beautiful vantage point of the mountain. There was no one else around and he had set up his phone to record us “dancing for an ig reel” when he got down one one knee and asked (He had my Nan’s engagement ring remade ). We both couldn’t stop laughing and crying as it was the most surreal and perfect moment.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

It was the first dress store I went to- the St Ives MWL store. I hadn’t picked Posie out to start with yet the lady suggested it and when I tried her on I was in love- I remember saying “I feel like a real bride in this”.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

There’s too many! The whole day was perfect. Walking down the aisle to my good friend singing “Home” my whole focus was just on Matt and I had the biggest smile on my face. Saying our own personal vows, escaping to the beach for some beautiful sunset photos and of coarse the dance floor!

What were your favourite details?

The tulle gloves- felt so timeless and elegant wearing them. The high quality film cameras on every table for some iconic shots. Everyone’s speeches and Matt and I dancing on shoulders to top of an incredible night.

What advice would you tell other brides?

That is true how they say all your worries and stress just melt away on the day, you end up letting go and having the best time ever. Also don’t be afraid to make it your own and break traditions – if you want to do something different just go for it sis! It’s your day.

Any standout vendors?

Tyler Chapman- musician (@tylerchapmanfunctions) (I’m bias cause he’s a good friend but honestly he’s the best there is and we got soooo many compliments about him)
Storytellers wedding co- photographer/videographer- they were so fun to work with on the day and we got all photos and video back in under 4 weeks!!
