Ashley + Dries

How did you meet?

We met at a metal festival in Belgium. We quickly discovered we’ve been living only 6km apart from eachother.
We were best friends for 7 years before we started dating.

When did you know they were the one?

It grew over time. All of our friends always said we should get together, years before there were sparks between us.
And I believe that I knew when I felt butterflies the moment I saw his face in the crowd at one of the numerous concerts we go to…

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His tattoos, his smile, his ambition.

Who proposed and how?

He proposed on the exact same date we met, only 10 years later.
He set up a tent on our terrace, just like the night we met at the festival.
He gave me an iron-on patch with the words: will you marry me? (and a gorgeous ring of course)

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I found it on pintrest.
I wanted a simple, minimalist style wedding dress to complement my tattoos, but still wanted some sort of little eye catcher.
I fell in love with the rosie crepe, began my search and found that it was an Australian brand.
Then I got into the worldwide retailers and found a little boutique shop in Lochristi, not far from where I live.
It was the very first wedding dress I tried on.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Our handfasting ceremony. It was super personal and special and meaningfull to us since we used fabric from my grandfathers kilt and ornaments from his grandfathers jewelry store in the ribbon that was used to tie our hands together.

What were your favourite details?

Our wedding was festival themed since we met at a festival.
We had a wedding logo, a festival poster, festival bracelets, stick-on tattoos and even reuseable festival cups!

What advice would you tell other brides?

No stress when something doesn’t go according to plan, roll with it and enjoy every bit of your special day!
