Ashley + Brett

How did you meet?

We met online through the dating app Bumble!
I was going overseas the next day, so we met at Wonderland Bar on Chapel Street and ended up spending the night chatting until 3 am!

When did you know they were the one?

Once I got back from overseas we spend literally every day together – I never got sick of spending time with him. We moved in after 3 months, so I knew pretty quickly he was the best thing that had ever happened to me!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His calmness
His patience
His drive to constantly improve

Who proposed and how?

Brett proposed
Brett is from New Zealand – so we had traveled back there many times together.
My favorite place to visit was Paunaui Beach – which is where Brett’s Dad lives
In January 2020 when we visited, we went for a walk along the beach in the afternoon. It was a huge surprise when Brett dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. Once we returned back to Brett’s dad there was lots of champagne and the rest of the family had arrived to celebrate.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I first saw Scottie on Instagram. I fell in love with the 3D lace and the plunging back.
When I went to the Made with Love store in Melbourne, it was the first dress I tried on. I didn’t even want to try any others on I loved it so much!
Then there was the added belt which really tied it all together.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

We had to change our wedding date 4 times due to Covid/NZ borders not being open. So to actually have all of our family and friends together in one room to celebrate really was the best thing ever.

What advice would you tell other brides?

It’s cliche, but once the day arrives, really try to enjoy and take in every part of the day. It goes by so fast.
Also, take a few minutes during the reception – just you and your new husband to soak it all in together
