Anna + Dimitri

How did you meet?

Dimitri and I met 8 years ago at a rugby tournament in my home town.  I wasn’t sure if anything would come of it as we lived 10 hours away from each other at the time.

When did you know they were the one?

We started our relationship long distance, which was extremely hard on both of us.  I was having a hard time with the distance and not being able to see each other, then one day he called me and told me we were going to have a phone sushi and movie date.  We both ordered our sushi and pressed play on the movie at the same time, the rest was history.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His big, kind heart that has room for anyone and everyone, his love and commitment to his friends and family and his ability to find the positive in the worst of times.

Who proposed and how?

Dimitri proposed on the island of Corfu, in Greece, where his mother’s family is from.  We were supposed to go to this remote bay for dinner, but missed the last boat.  He insisted on driving to the bay, but I was a bit skeptical as the road was not lit and a bit of a rough drive.  We finally got to the restaurant at 10:30pm and ended up getting our own private dock for dinner.  After dinner he asked me to go over to a little area of the beach to ‘take a selfie’, which I thought was odd because this was very out of character for him.  He reached in to his pocket and before he could say anything, I started hysterically crying He says he had a whole script worked out in his head, but my crying threw him off 😋

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I first saw the Made With Love Sadie on the MWL Instagram account and I knew I had to try it on!  What made me fall in love with the dress is the timeless, yet sexy, modern cut and style.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

The entire day was wonderful and perfect, but I would have to say the speeches at our reception.  The speeches were so wonderful and the room was filled with so much love and laughter.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

As our wedding was during the pandemic, we had to cut out guest list in half.  What surprised me was how all of our guests from different sides of the family and parts of our lives got to know each other.  It was small and intimate and not what we had originally planned, but it turned out to be perfect because of that.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t stress over the small things, because it is true that only you will notice them and not your guests.  Also, take a moment at your wedding to step back and take in whatever is going on.

What was the one thing you did differently for your wedding?

Had our wedding during the pandemic!
