Amy Marie + Luke

How did you meet?

We both lived in sunny South Eastern Spain 10 years ago with our families and had never met one another before, until one night outside one of our favourite bars, we set eyes on each other and the rest is history!

When did you know they were the one?

Me being 18 and Luke being 20 meant we were young to say it was love, but it really was just that.
After relocating back to Ireland just 2 months after meeting Luke in Spain, and he relocating back to the UK, we did long distance for 1 year. I then decided to move to the UK and lived there for 5 years and we had some of the best times! We now live in Ireland with our daughter Phoebe Ella and life could not be more perfect. I truly believe in soulmates now!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He is incredibly caring, strong and although I never admit it, he is super smart!
My absolute favourite thing about my husband, he is the most outstanding dad to our daughter Phoebe Ella.

Who proposed and how?

Luke proposed on the 4th of May 2019 in London, in the Shard. We made our way up to the very top, a glass of fizz waiting for us and he popped the big question while our parents watched. I remember us discussing getting engaged, having kids etc, but never expected it in that moment. We will remember this day for the rest of our lives.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I visited Kerry and her team in Ivy & White in Northern Ireland in May 2021 for the MWL trunk show. The most beautiful bridal shop and I felt so relaxed there. Ryder was the dress I wanted as soon as it released when I saw it on Instagram, so it was the first one we pulled off the shelf in my size too! Once I put it on, I said to Kerry, this is it. I felt all sorts of emotions in the dress and knew Ryder was the one for our destination wedding. My mum’s face said it all, she was in awe. I always wanted an overskirt and went with a custom made one with light layers of tulle showing the silhouette of the dress underneath it and it did exactly that! We used the same material from the dress to make the band on the skirt the exact same and it blended perfectly and it looked amazing!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Our first dance was just magical. I felt it was just me and Luke dancing in our own little world, then the ground flames went up and we looked around and seen our loved ones and it just made everything perfect. We dreamt of getting married in our venue for 4 years, when we first set eyes on it while holidaying in Rhodes, so to be dancing our first dance there, it was like a fairytale.

What were your favourite details?

My vision was a classic, simple wedding, with a less is more take. Focusing on white flowers only, select greenery and gold accessories. Our backdrop alone was simply amazing at the venue, so we did not want to take from that. The table decor was just to die for. We added small flowers to our prosecco glasses and mini pegs (the cutest thing ever!) and used an instax camera for our guestbook to capture even more memories! (It was very funny looking back through these!).

What advice would you tell other brides?

Do everything with you and your partner in mind.
Do not get side tracked by other weddings being more over the top than you can afford or even more simple than you had planned. Do it exactly how you both want it and try to get away for a few minutes together and take it all in. The day goes by so fast!
One other thing, get a videographer, It is the best way to relive the whole thing and honestly worth every single cent.

Any standout vendors?

Our wedding Venue KTIMA lindos, was outstanding. The views, food, staff and of course Manolis the owner and Nicole the wedding planner, simply amazing.

Allumé Weddings, our photographers and videographers, who were from Australia but travel globally coming all that way to capture our day. Joey and Nat were simply phenomenal! They did say it was the hottest they had ever shot in (42 degrees!)
and they still did amazing!

Eden Glamour Hair by Clara, for your sensational work in such heat and our hairs staying in the whole day and night!
The same for Lindos Makeup artist, how you managed to keep our faces from sweating, I will never know, but amazing work and thank you!
