Amyane + Pierre

How did you meet?

We met through family and friends. We live in a small community and always known each other but as Pierre is older than me we had never thought of dating. Pierre and I actually share two cousins (my fathers sister and his moms brother were married). With that said, it had met him a few times before as a child.

When did you know they were the one?

The values and goals we had in common made me realize he was the one!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Kind and respectful.
Dedicated and driven in his work and personal goals.
Handsome and intelligent.

He’s got everything going on, and I’m so incredibly lucky to be his wife!

Who proposed and how?

Pierre’s friends own the Antoine ski hill in Mattawa, so he asked them if he could bring our 2 kids & I up there (in the fall). The view up the hill is absolutely gorgeous, especially in the fall! Once we got to the top he got on one knee and proposed to me.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

In Toronto, I went for a weekend away with my mother, mother in law and sister in law and found this dress at my last appointment.
I fell in love with the simplicity and elegance of the dress. And the open back ofcourse!
I wanted a dress with sleeves, so I got creative and customized it with the help of a sweet lady from my hometown.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The speeches!
During the speeches I realized that our wedding day speeches would most likely be the only day in your life that your loved ones would share such heartfelt memories and sweet thoughts about us (besides our funeral which we won’t be there to hear them).
So I took it all in and enjoyed every little moment!

What advice would you tell other brides?

My son had a terrible day that day (he was exhausted and cranky).
During the ceremony, he had no shirt, making dinosaur sounds and trying to take his pants off. (He’s 1)
My daughter in the other hand was crying as she wanted the ring box that I had thrown out. This was not what I imagined but it made it even more special and gives us a good story to tell them.

Things won’t always go as you planned but don’t stress.. the outcome is perfect and special regardless of the situation.
