Amy + Braddon

How did you meet?

We met through mutual friends and had spoken to each other previously on Facebook but at the time one of us had a partner so nothing was ever pursued. We then came across each other again a year or so down the track and finally got the courage to meet each other & were basically inseparable after that!

How did you know they were the one?

I never really had any doubt that he was the one for me. I have always suffered from quite bad anxiety and especially in social situations and with people, I don’t know but I never felt anxious or nervous around him even from day one. I especially knew he was the one when he got the tick of approval from my dad & my two VERY over protective brothers 🙊

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He is hard-working, passionate & will do anything for the people that he loves.

Who proposed and how?

He proposed to me, not your typical over the top dramatic proposal it was just us at home but it was beautiful & intimate and I wouldn’t have had it any other way!

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

The best moment (apart from marrying my best friend!) would definitely be walking around the corner to walk down the aisle and seeing my husbands face & all of our family/friends. I had asked my husband before the wedding what kind of dress he thought I would be wearing and it was nothing like Georgie (one of his first comments was well I know it won’t be a tight fitting dress because you don’t wear anything like that) his face is something I will never forget  it was so perfect.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I had been to one bridal store and hadn’t really fallen in love with anything and I had always dreamt of wearing a MWL dress. We only have one stockist in Hobart and that is confetti so I booked an appointment to go and have a look. When I arrived I was quite anxious and worried that I would not like any of the dresses on me because I never wear any tight fitting clothing due to body insecurities. I had never envisioned   myself wearing a plain dress and certainly not in the crepe material but as soon as I put Georgie on I was speechless. Even in the wrong size and not looking over flattering on me I just said that’s it that’s the one I know it is. I instantly purchased/ordered her and I am so glad I did because it was the perfect dress for me and I felt beautiful for the first time in my life!

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t sweat the small stuff! Everyone says that and I ignored everyone who said that to me in the lead up because I am so OCD but on the day there were a couple of things that weren’t right but none of it mattered at all!

Another piece of advice – Get the dress. Get the expensive hair/makeup/photographer. Get. What. You. Want.! I tried to do everything to a budget but those were the things I let myself go with and my word it was so worth it. They made me feel so beautiful I teared up when I looked in the mirror & our photos are just incredible. You only want to do this day once so I say work your budget around the things that are most important to you on your day!

What were your favourite details?

We got married on a farm so 99% of the wedding was DIY – I had so much fun designing everything and finally seeing it come to life. Everything was so laid back, no seating plans, help your self to drinks out of baths, hay bayles around heaters outside. Kicking the heels off and dancing barefoot in the barn. It was truly amazing!
