Amie + Matthew

How did you meet?

We meet at high school, we dated for a week in year 7 & then went our separate ways throughout school, it wasn’t until Matt left in year 10 that we rekindled our young love & as they say the rest is history…

How did you know they were the one?

Although we started dating when we were 16, I actually think we both knew that this would be forever.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His Smile, His values & morals & down to earth attitude.

Who proposed and how?

Matt proposed to me at one of favourite places, Burubi Beach in Port Stephens, it is a beach we regularly take our dogs to so it was only all too fitting that this be the place and they be included.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

The best moment was marrying my best friend & my forever. Although close second was surprising our Guests at our “ceremony” that we had eloped in October 2021 as Covid had forced us to cancel our Hamilton Island wedding. During our “ceremony,” we showed our unsuspecting guests a video of our elopement and surprised them all that we were already married and here to celebrate our marriage, it was such a joy to see everyone’s faces & finally be able to celebrate our marriage.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I always loved the simplicity of the Georgie dress and the back…. amazing! Although, I tried on many other dresses & even initially purchased Scottie, after purchasing the beautiful Scottie I kept thinking back to Georgie & could not stop thinking about her, constantly looking at photos and feeling that I had picked the wrong dress for me, the more I saw of Georgie, the more I knew this was my dress. Although Scottie was an absolutely stunning dress, I knew in my heart Georgie was the one for me and therefore ended up purchasing Georgie. It was after purchasing Georgie, that Rosie was soon revealed & right away without so much as a second thought, I knew that Rosie was also going to be part of my special day- she just looked fun!! I was always open to two dresses should they be the right dresses & these two were certainly the dresses for me! Even after wearing both of them, I am still so in love with them equally.

What advice would you tell other brides?

To enjoy the process & not lose sight of what actually matters, even if curveballs are thrown your way, everything always has a way of working out & sometimes it’s even better than imagined.

What were your favourite details?

Everything about our day was perfect, whilst it was entirely different to what was initially planned & the rain on the day also caused some other change of plans such as indoors instead of the planned outdoor setup, it was still perfect! The venue, the vendors, the dresses, everything! if I could do it 10x over, I would & wouldn’t change a thing.

Any standout vendors?

All our vendors were absolutely amazing to work with, each & every single one, the day wouldn’t have been what it was without them.
