Amanda + Kyle

How did you meet?

Kyle and I met at church when we were just about five years old! Our older brothers were best friends through middle school so we formed our own friendship through them! We remained friends all through college and ended up moving back to our hometown in Lake Tahoe around the same time in the summer of 2018. One night at a friend’s summer party in late August we both felt a new spark and six months later went on our first date for coffee and margaritas and never looked back!

When did you know they were the one?

After about a month of dating, we knew we were in it for the long haul. There wasn’t a single moment that stuck out but more the cliche of “when you know, you know”!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

My three favorite attributes of my sweet husband would be:

  1. His love for Jesus
  2. His work ethic and pursuit to do everything to his best ability- including his care for me!
  3. That he’s my best friend first, and lover as a close second

Who proposed and how?

We took a trip to the east cape of Baja, California with Kyle’s family for Thanksgiving 2019. During that trip, on December 3rd, 2019, Kyle took me on a sunset walk down the empty beach and asked me to be his wife. Directly after I said yes, we jumped into the Sea of Cortez before going back to the house and celebrating with the rest of his family!

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

The best moment of the wedding for me was when I first saw Kyle when I walked down the aisle. I was SO nervous all day long and the second I saw his face, all of my nerves melted away. Just another confirmation that I had found my person.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I initially fell in love with my dress– The Tommy– on pinterest and officially fell in love with it for me at Swoon Bridal in Reno, NV.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

What surprised me at my wedding was how beautiful and seamless it all came together. I had such a great day-of coordinator and my florist is a true angel sent from heaven, but for some reason never could have imagined my vision would come to life so perfectly. I was truly stunned. Every detail just made me smile.

What advice would you tell other brides?

My advice for brides is to have a vision and run with it, but not be tied down to the details. Things may go awry but at the end of the day it will be beautiful no matter what because when you go to sleep that night, you’ll have everything you ever really needed or wanted. And the rest is just a bonus.

What was one thing you did differently for your wedding?

What we did differently was the way our guests enjoyed their dinner. We had a cocktail style reception so there was no assigned or conventional seating, but different areas for people to sit and eat and drink and mingle. What we really wanted was for our guests to get to know and spend time with each other. Every person invited means so much to us individually, we wanted to create a space where everyone could meet the other important people in our lives. Not just the few that would be seated at the same table.
