Alyce + Andrew

How did you meet?

Andrew and I have been together a decade. We grew up in a small town south of Hobart, Tasmania and met through mutual friends.

When did you know they were the one?

We moved in together a few months after dating and relocated across the country less than a year into our relationship. I guess you could say that we both knew very early in our relationship that we had found someone special.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His sense of humour – we are forever laughing and never take life too seriously. His sense of adventure – he would literally jump on a plane and go anywhere with me. His ability to make me feel like I am home, no matter where we are in the world.

Who proposed and how?

Andrew proposed to me in late 2019 on a beautiful clifftop in Lombok, Indonesia – it was absolutely perfect.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I tried the dress on at Brides by Design in Perth and knew immediately it was the one. The style felt so natural to me but the detail in the lace is what really sold it for me.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The night before the wedding, Andrew and I shared personal vows to one another – we really wanted this to be an intimate moment just between us and it really was perfect. On the day of the wedding, we really enjoyed the reception – enjoying beautiful food and some drinks with 30 of our closest family and friends (some we had not seen for years due to Covid).

What were your favourite details?

The location – it was located in the northern NSW hinterlands and completely off the grid in a national park. It really was a stunning backdrop. The food – we had a really relaxed shared style menu and wanted to keep it casual… this is definitely more our style. Finally, our modern country singer from the Gold Coast – he was not only an amazing entertainer but just a great human!

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t feel pressured to follow the rules. We had a small wedding, removed the formalities and really just had a relaxed party with our closest family and friends. It was such an amazing day and because we had no expectations or strict schedule, we were able to relax and take it all in.
