Ally + Rob

How did you meet?

Rob and I met in medical school. I was the year above him and was actually his tutor in one of his classes!

When did you know they were the one?

We had been dating for just a few weeks but were inseparable. Rob had left to Vietnam on his medical elective and when he left I called a friend and cried, I had never had a reaction like that before!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Rob is loyal, extremely positive and passionate in everything he does.

Who proposed and how?

Rob proposed to me on a campervan trip in Tropical North Queensland. He proposed underneath a waterfall and sneakily asked a fellow tourist couple from Sweden to film it. The video features a Swedish tourist crying in the background!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with the Darcy dress at the MWL Gold Coast store. It was my 5th bridal store I visited and I was losing hope, but my friends persuaded me to try one more. The Darcy was completely different to what I thought I wanted, but I loved the cap sleeves, 3D flowers and fitted look. It was a complete gamechanger!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

There are so many to choose from, but both Rob and I distinctly remember during the reception looking up from the bridal table and just seeing all our guests laughing, smiling and having a great time. It made us so happy.

What were your favourite details?

The florals! We went bright and I absolutely loved it and had so many compliments. Also, our dog stole the show in his little tuxedo.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Book the big things early and take time in choosing those things, but all the little things really don’t matter and won’t make a difference to the day. At one point during my planning I was overthinking the number of candles we would need for about an hour, and I wouldn’t even be able to tell you now whether we had the right amount as it is such a small detail!
