Alana + Mikey

How did you meet?

Mikey and I met on a ski getaway in Whistler BC with a group of friends, not knowing we’d meet and be inseparable from that weekend on.

When did you know they were the one?

2 months into dating Mikey, he asked me to go to Australia with him for a month, and without hesitation I said yes. We left 1 month later. That was the moment I knew I’d follow him anywhere and love him the rest of my life.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His absolute love and zest for life. He makes every moment the best moment, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem.
His positivity, which fits so well with his love for life. We have an art print in our home that simply says “No Bad Days” and he lives every day of his life this way, and pushes me to do the same.
His sense of adventure. He’s completely and contagiously spontaneous and makes everything its own adventure.

Who proposed and how?

Mikey proposed at the very spot we had our first date. By the alpine lake in front of the Cascade mountains, with our two best friends taking photos and popping champagne!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

The day Mikey proposed I found my dress! I searched thereafter finding nothing that compared to the feeling I got when I first saw a photo of Harlow. During my first dress appointment at Bespoke, my family and friends made me try other dresses first, though I knew Harlow would be the one, and it was, no hesitation, just like I knew about Mikey.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Our first look together was my favorite moment. There was something so special about seeing each other for the first time in such a private moment, knowing that would be our only time just us, even though he Iced me!

What were your favorite details?

The florals from Morgan at Blomstra Floriography were so detailed and special. We talked for a year coming up with the perfect combination of breathtaking and unique. Morgan asked about family and values and favorite moments throughout our lives to tell our story in flowers. My Papa passed a few years before our wedding and Morgan had the gorgeous idea of adding Rosemary sprigs to my bouquet because of his love for gardening. It was such a beautiful touch not only visually but the scent they provided was comforting and felt like my Papa was with us that day.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Let your day be what your day is mean to be. Things are bound to turn out differently than you imagined but if you have the attitude for loving the imperfections- your day will be perfect.
