Donna + Adam

How did you meet?

Adam and I met in Margaret River at a yoga class in March 2015. He then became my massage client and a beautiful friendship developed. A year later they universe finally bought us together, both newly single and there was no looking back.

When did you know they were the one?

I knew a few months after meeting him he was my absolute one, but a lot had to play out within the universe to bring us together, I also had to remember my worth and know I was truly deserving of an incredible man like him.
Adam’s defining moment was a year into our relationship when we moved into the house he built all by himself from scratch in Margaret River WA. He begun building the house just as we got together, we always reminisce on the build and how much fun we had creating the house and how my input increased as we got more serious. As the house blossomed and progressed, so did our love and teamwork.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Adam has the most open, big and loving heart of anyone I have ever met. No matter what I am going through, he will hold a divinely safe presence for me. I’m grateful I get to share a love of surfing with him, one of our favourite things to do together.

His favourite things about me are: Donna is passionate, driven and incredibly wise.

Who proposed and how?

Adam proposed on our 4 year anniversary in Noosa on sunrise. 25/4/2020. Our anniversary is on ANZAC day, so we went down to the beach for our own dawn service, after I had read my reading to honour the Anzacs, Adam pulled out a letter and proposed with a cypress pine ring he handmade throughout that week secretly. I wear the timber ring on my right middle finger now that I have real rings you can see it in the photos 🙂

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

The moment when I got to Adam at the end of the aisle, we had this intense moment, my veil was still on, we held hands and put our heads together and breathed together, time stood still. 2nd: the amazing organic vegan food from our favourite cafe ever in Noosa 🙂 3rd: Sharing the whole day with our beautiful Kelpie Billie.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I had trouble choosing 1 as I was literally in love with each one I tried on! In the end I chose Rosey as the fabric was super different to anything I had ever seen!

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

The love bubble you are in! You get tunnel vision, I couldn’t see anyone but Adam all day, it was like a huge daydream.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Get your dress on early! I was a little rushed at the end and I didn’t have bridesmaids keeping time check for me haha! Have a good 30 mins in your dress before you head to the ceremony!

What was one thing you did differently for your wedding?

We did basically everything differently (lol covid wedding), we chose to get married no matter how many people made it. In the end only my parents could fly from WA, the rest of our family and friends were on zoom! We had 20 people. We also have strong ethics on sustainability, supporting locals and the environment. All our flowers were spray free, native, naturally dried and locally sourced. All our food was organic, vegan and gluten free. We also wanted the whole thing outside, so no marques for us, we wanted to be right in nature and under the stars, where we love it best. During my dad’s speech a sugar glider flew from tree to tree, it was insane!
