Elise + Nick

How did you meet?

We met in 2011 coaching touch football teams for the same school. It wasn’t for a few years of friendship before sparks flew and our relationship formed.

How did you know he was the one?

In 2015, I had to move to Toowoomba for work (Nick was still living on the Gold Coast). We pushed through 2.5 years of living apart (seeing each other on most weekends). I knew when every Sunday we said our sad goodbyes, that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Nick. It’s so easy when we’re together, it’s always fun…even if we’re just driving in the car.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He cares so much – he’ll do anything for me, the love for his friends and family – this mirrors my beliefs and he and always make me smile.

Who proposed and how?

Nick proposed exactly 1 year prior to us officially tying the knot on 20th June 2019. He took me on a weekday (after speaking with our parents earlier in the week) to Cabarita Hill. This was where our first sparks flew when we playing in a mixed touch tournament about 7 years prior. It was a beautiful overcast day and he got down on one knee and surprised me by asking me to marry him.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

The Carla was so special. I fell in love with the 3D lace and it was such a flattering style. It was super comfortable to wear on the day. I loved the look of the Tulle Wings (being a little different – I’d never seen them before) so had them for photos too.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

Walking down the aisle and seeing Nicks face when he first saw me. 2020 threw some curve balls with our original wedding being cancelled due to COVID-19. So being able to finally tie the knot in front of our friends and family, and Nick being able to see my dress for the first time was so special.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

How smoothly it went! It was just a perfect day!

What advice would you tell other brides?

Be flexible! You can’t control what happens in the world.. e.g. COVID-19! But go with the flow and do what’s right for you. For us  getting married in front of 20 of our family members was perfect. Plus we’ll celebrate at our original venue in 2021 with our extended friends and family…hopefully I’ll get to wear my Carla a 2nd time!
