Rachel + Chris

How did you meet?

We met on Tinder (How modern of us) We had both come out of long term relationships within the last 12 months and never expected to find a meaningful relationship from tinder let alone our future spouses.

How did you know he was the one?

For me; it was the first date. The moment he opened the door and his 6’4″ broad shouldered body shadowed mine (I’m 5’9″ and love to wear heels). We had been chatting for about 5 weeks before the first date as both our jobs are unpredictable with hours, every time we organised to meet up; one of us had to cancel.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His sense of Adventure; he can make going to the supermarket fun. His big heart that he openly wears on his sleeve. His ability to make me laugh no matter how bad a mood I might be in.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

Your Instagram page. I’ve been following you for a while and was torn between the Georgie V1 in lace or the Carla in bone. I had an appointment at the St Ives boutique and tried on both dresses. The Georgie just didn’t flatter my body and being 6 months postpartum I was extra cautious of my tummy area. When I stepped in front of the mirror wearing the Carla it took my breath away. My mum instantly started tearing up to the point she couldn’t even speak, 2 of my bridesmaids who were also at the appointment with me; fell in love instantly. We all know it was ‘THE ONE’.

Who proposed and how?

Chris proposed on top of the German Alps over looking his Oma’s village of Bad Reichenhall. I was 8 weeks pregnant at the time and although i was a very fit pregnant lady I need a rest on the hike up the mountain. We pulled off the main track and I sat down to rest, Chris put the backpack down and in one smooth move; he turner around dropping to one knee holding open a custom ring box with a beautiful round halo diamond ring.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

Our 16 month old daughter absolutely stealing the show during the Daddy Daughter dance, we organised the dance earlier in the night so my husband Chris and our daughter Harper could dance alongside my Dad and I. Harper didn’t want to be carried by Chris, she wanted to be put down so she could bust a move, it was adorable and so funny. I ended up dancing with Harper and Chris danced with my Dad; twirling him around. It was a great moment.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding

How much everyone danced; We invested in an awesome band who traveled 4 hrs to play at our Wedding and boy were they worth it. We had so much fun dancing with all our guests. Everyone commented on the band and how sore their feet were by the end of the night.

What advice would you tell other brides?

BUY THE DRESS! The Carla was over my dress budget but it’s one area I wouldn’t recommend skimping on. You want to feel and look your absolute best on this special day and you don’t want to look back at the photos regretting your choice. You can always sell the dress after the wedding if you need to. The second part of advice would be to hire a coordinator, we used Kerstyn from Hire a Bridesmaid and she’s worth her weight in gold! She made the day run so smoothly, and did all the running around allowing me to relax and enjoy the day.

What was the one thing you did differently for your wedding?

We got the formalities out of the way early, this allowed more time for us to spend with our guest who all travelled far to share the day with us. Speeches and dances were done in the first hour of the reception, then we cut the. cake later in the night just before everyone devoured it for dessert.
