Georgie + Kieren

How did you meet?

Kieren and I started Kindergarten together while his local school was being built. We then started high school together. He was one of my best friends through high school and finally in Year 11 asked me to be his girlfriend. We were together for nearly 10 years when we got married.

How did you know he was the one?

We have both experienced so many highs and lows in our lives and to have each other there for love and support during this made everything better. I couldn’t see myself with anyone else to spend the rest of my life with.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His personality, his caring nature and his arms!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I was in love with Riley Luxe before I was engaged! I saw it on Instagram and knew that would be my dress. It was so sexy but feminine and classy. I loved that I could also wear it with the removable skirt which gave me two looks for my day. I loved the tulle skirt for my church service. I felt like a princess during my ceremony but was ready to retire my skirt to party the night away!

Who proposed and how?

Kieren and I share a love of horse racing and when the new complex was built locally to us we always talked about getting married there. Kieren told me he won a nights accommodation at the hotel through a competition on Twitter and I believed him. We went up to the rooftop pool that overlooked the racetrack and the Riverside Stable. Kieren then pointed out the stable and told me that is where we would be married. I turned around and found him on one knee.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

My best moment was our first dance. I felt that it was one of our first moments where I was able to block out everyone and felt that it was just the two of us.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding

I was so surprise how relaxed I was the whole day! I was such a self-confessed bridezilla the whole lead up, our engagement party, my bridal shower and hens. I am such a control freak but I had the best sleep the night before and really embraced the whole day with a relaxed approach.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Enjoy every minute because it goes so fast!

What was the one thing you did differently for your wedding?

We tried to make our day as ‘us’ as possible! We added extra readings in our church service so that so many of our family and friends could be involved in our special day. I also chose not to wear my veil over my face as I walked into the church. We also made the decision to cut our cake as we entered the reception! My advice to other couples – It is your day! Everyone is different so your day should reflect you!
