Christine + Stephen

How did you meet?

In late May 2017, my best friend Alyssa asked if I wanted to attend the Chelsea High teacher end-of-year boat cruise, since she had bought two tickets and it seemed silly to waste the extra. I agreed, since it was going to be an open bar. After nearly missing the boat’s departure (due to an overrun conference call and inadequate parking), Alyssa and I boarded the cruise. Meanwhile, Steve took notice of the “girl who doesn’t work here” and made it his mission to talk to me. Later, after a couple of hours of chatting post-boat ride, Steve asked for my phone number, only to realize his phone was dead. I took down his phone number instead. About two weeks later we went on their first date, and the rest is history.

When did you know they were the one?

I knew Steve was the one about 6 months after we started dating. There was (and still is!) so much ease to our relationship. Everything felt natural and by design.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Steve is patient, hard working, and loves to have fun!

Who proposed and how?

I was visiting Cape Cod for the weekend in order to get some errands taken care of after the end of a busy synchronized (ice) skating season. In between errands, my mom suggested that we stop by the Cape Cod Lavender Farm in Harwich to look at the site as a potential wedding venue (this was our second visit; no one ever accused them of being procrastinators). While we were parking and walking around the site, Steve, Alyssa, and Steve’s friend Angel had driven to the farm and hidden in the woods. They nearly ran afoul of some horseback riders who demanded to know why they had to block the path with their cars, but Alyssa explained that they were on an important and secret mission. Steve then went and surprised me where I was looking at the scenery, and proposed. We’re still unsure if I ever actually said yes out loud.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I had been browsing online for dresses for awhile before we got engaged, and already knew that I wanted to try on made with life dresses. I actually went dress shopping the morning that we got engaged (which I didn’t know was happening that day), but I knew it was going to happen soon. It was March 13, 2020 and I knew that if I didn’t get started trying on dresses that the world was going to shut down and had no idea when I would be able to shop again. I was pretty sure that the Georgie V2 in crepe was going to be the dress before I tried anything on, and Christina at Head Over Heels had one for me to try on that day and I was sold.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Honestly, being able to have it as we had planned without any pandemic restrictions was the best thing about the day.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Spring for the videographer. The day goes by so quickly and the details get hazy, and having the full video & highlight reel helps to remember all of the things that happened that day!
