Tracy + James

How did you meet?

I met this special Aussie on a yacht in Savannah Georgia (USA), we then fell in love in the Caribbean, got engaged in Italy and married In South Africa. We have been traveling the world working on yachts ever since.

When did you know they were the one?

When I realized that this is exactly the father I want for my children and the best friend I want for life.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His honesty, kindness and ability to always remain positive.

Who proposed and how?

James said he got a great deal on a hotel in Venice so off we got on the train (he only let me take a small hand luggage bag, so I really didn’t expect anything), turns out it was a beautiful hotel that must have been a REALLY good deal. He then said he booked a great gondola ride followed by a nice dinner, but if i’m late getting ready he would leave me behind haha… so now I really didn’t expect anything. So I made sure I was ready on time and we were going through all these beautiful little canals on this gondola and down falls this banner over a bridge saying “Tracy, will you marry me?”. Next min James was down on one knee holding the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. I honestly couldn’t believe my eyes. It was so incredibly special and well thought through.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I saw the dress online, and I couldn’t find it in South Africa; so when we went to America I managed to finally try it on at Lighthouse Bridal in Florida. I instantly knew Archie was the one; and the fact that it was an Aussie brand where my Husband is from, I was even more attached. I really love the less is more look and this dress is so timeless and elegant.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The best moment was seeing so many loved in the same space again, we really take for granted how much a gathering means to us until it’s taken away. We had to postpone once until we were out of a wave and we were really hoping James family and friends would have been able to get out of Aus by then, but sadly they couldn’t be there. Another special moment was watching James watch a video I compiled of all his family and friends sending messages from around the world; he was so surprised and it definitely felt like they were closer to us. There were so many best moments its hard to pinpoint the best

What advice would you tell other brides?

No one will notice if a flower is out of place or if the glasses aren’t the ones you had in mind; what makes a good wedding is a good crowd, good food and a great DJ, so if you have that you have a successful wedding already.
