Tori + Adam

How did you meet?

We met on holiday (ten years ago this Summer). He was on a lads holiday, I was with my girls and our eyes met across a dark and sweaty dance floor. He lived in England and I was in Ireland, so we exchanged twitter handles (he didn’t know his number, and it was 2012 after all) and after a few long distance trips, I then moved to London to see if there was any longevity in my infatuation with ‘Mr Magaluf’

When did you know they were the one?

On one of our ‘date’ weekends, we went to the rugby. He was supporting England of course, and I was wearing green for Ireland. We got so lost and both phones had died, so we ending up having to sit on a curb with tinnies while our phones charged in a corner shop. It was during writing our vows that the both of us discovered it was during this chat and heart to heart that we knew we had something really special. It wasn’t however up to 7 months later than Adam finally asked me to be his girlfriend

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Patience. Kindness. Pragmatism.

Who proposed and how?

We were in Mexico, it was just after my 30th birthday party. There had been so many trips, romantic walks and birthdays – all bets were off. Hubby had also asked permission from my Dad 6 months prior, so even the family thought he had changed his mind. Anyway. Long story short, he googled on where to proposed, turns out that destination was a place that was a temple for human sacrifices, not that romantic – so abandoned that idea and did it on the beach as I got into a hammock. He asked would you marry me, and as well as a ring passed a bottle of champers to me. Good lad.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I went to the London store, had tried on three dresses I absolutely loved and the lovely Tove (shop assistant) tempted me with one more, that had just arrived as a sample that morning and had not yet been worn by ANYONE. It was Harlow and it was love at first sight. I went to a few other shops to test my instincts, but I knew as soon as I tried it on that it was the one for me. Comfortable, chic. sexy and scalloped neck – yes, yes, yes.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Walking through the doors, seeing my ceremony room and Adam looking dapper at the end of the aisle. It was months of planning all in one room and I couldn’t be happier.

What were your favourite details?

The little travel moments. We had luggage with labels for Magaluf, we had sunglasses on our tables as the favours and fans for the ceremony. Having dated long distance and both really enjoying travel, it was a personalised touch that everyone really appreciated.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Only invite opinions when you really need them. Keep surprises for your guests, it maintains energy throughout the day and only do it if you truly want it – not because ‘you have to’. We had an audio guest book for example. Everyone absolutely loved it, and I didn’t want to have a book that I would look at once and put into the loft.

Any standout vendors?

My florist got covid the week of my wedding. She was an absolute hero and got others at very last minute to help. Even with being so unwell, she was committed and ensured that our shared and discussed vision came to life. Which it did, ten times over. I was absolutely overwhelmed by the flowers and brought such vibrancy to the day.
