Tessa + Grant

How did you meet?

Grant and I met through volleyball! We went to the same school 4 years apart and both had played for QLD and Australia and went to a lot of the same tournaments, so we have known of each other for what seems like forever. But we never actually spoke until after I finished high school.

When did you know they were the one?

It was probably about a year into our relationship. We were at his parents house and his gran was there as well and he asked me if I played crib, which is a card game that my mum taught me when I was really young. It sounds so silly but I had never met anyone else that played it and I just thought it was so sweet that he played it with his gran and I just remember feeling all the feels about him that day.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

So hard to narrow it down but probably:
1. His sense of humor and just his laugh in general.
2. His sense of adventure – we have a mutual love of camping, hiking and day trips to find the best food and coffee.
3. Just how loving and kind he is. He loves his friends, and his family, our dogs (all animals really) and me so much. He just has such a big heart.

Who proposed and how?

Grant proposed. We took a trip to Nepal over the Christmas/New Year period in 2018/2019 and did a 12 day trek to Mount Everest Base Camp. We got to Everest Base Camp on New Years morning and he proposed there!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

Fell in love with it first looking at photos on Instagram and then all over again when I actually tried it on at the Gold Coast. I had left it extremely late to find a dress – like 4 months out from the wedding and I went online to the MWL ‘Ready to Wear’ and they had it in my size and I was trying it on the next day. Fit almost perfectly and I just loved how simple and classic it was. Felt very much meant to be!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

So hard to choose! The ceremony in general was so beautiful. It was full of laughs and tears and hearing our celebrant re-tell our story was pretty unreal. Also just a quiet moment that Grant and I had alone to take in the fact that we were actually married was really beautiful.

What were your favourite details?

The venue itself was just gorgeous and was exactly the vibe we wanted for our wedding. And our videographer actually blew us away with what he put together.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Take a moment with your new hubby/wifey just for yourselves. No cameras, no other people, just a private moment to take in the fact that you are MARRIED.

Any standout vendors?

Our celebrant was AMAZING. I am so grateful we found Lei! Also Fig Tree Pictures, AIK Film and the staff at the Fig Tree Restaurant. Honestly everyone was so good.
