Tanya + Drew

How did you meet?

Drew and I met over ten years ago (yes, we waited a decade before we got married!). We met through mutual friends. My friend and I brought over a tray of jell-o shots (classy) to his house for a party, we made eye contact across the room, the instant attraction and pull was there, and soon, we were dating & the rest is history!

When did you know they were the one?

Almost instantly. Drew is the perfect mix of engaging, funny, and kind. The chemistry was (and is!) electric.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

I think my vows to Drew sums everything up:
“Drew – your magnetic energy permeates to everyone around you. You don’t just light up a room, you lovingly command it. You are kind, and optimistic, and empathetic. You’re a dreamer and lift my head to the sky when I find my feet are stuck to the ground. You taught me that it’s okay to want more, to be more, to have fun, to laugh, and, to quote you “never have a bad day”. It has been the great joy of my life to have spent the last ten years with you. To know how quickly time passes makes me look forward the years in front of us together even more. You make me so happy. I love you.”

Who proposed and how?

Drew  proposed to me on the 18th hole of our country club’s golf course (after keeping the secret the entire golf round!) and afterwards all my friends and family came running out for a surprise engagement party where we popped champagne, danced, and sang karaoke all night!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I had been searching for a timeless, seamless, fitted, open-back gown and wasn’t finding any dresses near me. After trying on tons of dresses locally, I took a leap and ordered the MWL Georgie V2 online and fell in love the moment I tried it on. It was love at first try on

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The wedding ceremony itself sticks out as the best moment from our wedding. It was thoughtful, heartfelt, and blissfully surreal to be marrying my best friend of a decade. Bonus points – my brother got to walk me down the aisle after booking a flight last-minute so he could make it to our destination wedding. We were pronounced husband and wife and walked down the aisle as violinists serenaded us and the sun began to set and the desert sky was aflame with the most beautiful colors.

What were your favourite details?

Our venue in Scottsdale, Arizona (US) was magical. There were beautiful, lush golf course views alongside the rustic, mauves and tans of the desert scape. The ceremony and reception were all outside next to a 15 foot tall Rolex clock and under a blanket of twinkly lights overhead and the stars farther overhead. My aunt did all our flowers and a stunning, unique arch that guests walked through to get to the ceremony site. I loved how the mix of bridesmaid dresses turned out as well – after many months of procurement – I felt as though the colours perfectly complimented the day and the desert.

What advice would you tell other brides?

As cliche as it sounds – live in the moment and let the stress of the day dissolve so you can enjoy every second of your wedding.
