Summer + Justin
How did you meet?
We met 9 years ago in our first week at university- we immediately became best friends and romance took a little longer!
When did you know they were the one?
Justin wanted something romantic from the start, but I held back as I didn’t want anything to get in the way of our friendship. As soon as I admitted to myself that I did have feelings for Justin I have been confident that he was my person. We already had a solid friendship and I just had to let myself fall in love.
What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?
Justin is sociable, persevering and loyal
Who proposed and how?
For our 7 year anniversary, Justin asked me to marry him on a weekend trip to Queenstown. He organised for us to go to the Onsen Hot Pools and asked the question with my Great Grandmother’s ring. If it was any longer, I would have taken matters into my own hands, so the answer was an easy yes!
Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?
Soon after we got engaged I began the hunt for the perfect dress. I had plans to go and try lots on with my mother and bridesmaids in tow and then I saw the Made with Love sample sale… Even though I hadn’t tried any dresses yet I saw the Georgie V2 and immediately brought it! I fell in love with the 3D lace and backless design.
What was the best moment for you at your wedding?
We had wedding delays due to covid restrictions and ended up having 2 weddings! The first was an elopement with only our parents in attendance on our original date – it was so special and emotional but no white dress or fancy venue. Our second wedding was able to go ahead as originally planned – just 6 months later. The best moment was walking down the aisle with both my parents and seeing the faces of all our friends and family who were absent from the first ceremony. Just actually being able to go through with it all, and of course get to wear the dress! It was the perfect day!
What were your favourite details?
My favourite details were the small things that made our wedding so unique to us. The aisle song that was featured at both of our parents weddings, the personalised ceremony script that people kept commenting was “so you”, and the choreographed first dance that we would never have thought we would have done 1 year before.
What advice would you tell other brides?
You cant control everything on the day, so prepare as much as you can and then relax and enjoy it!
