Molly + Brian

How did you meet?

Brian and I met during our training to become Peace Corps volunteers in Thailand and started dating about halfway through our 2 year service despite the fact that our villages were 7 hours apart from one another! Needless to say the anticipation for our once a month date was exciting!

When did you know they were the one?

When we came back to the US after finishing Peace Corps I was beginning grad school in NYC and Brian returned home to California. Less than two months later he moved to New York to be closer to me with no expectation that I would move in with him. That kind of gesture was a big deal for me.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Selfless, thoughtful, adventurous

Anyone who knows Brian knows he is an amazing soul and I am truly blessed to call him my partner.

Who proposed and how?

Brian proposed on a beach 5 minutes from where we now live. We were going for a winter beach walk and I was caught off guard when Brian asked me to come see something and he was on one knee.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I had seen MWL Archie online and when I tried it on at Lovely Bride NYC I felt absolutely stunning. Despite trying on a few other dresses I knew Archie was what I wanted to spend my special day in.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

One of the best moments at our wedding was deciding to step away to take sunset photos at the beach which our venue overlooked. It gave us an intimate moment to enjoy from afar and be really present with one another. We noticed a lot of our guests took the opportunity to do the same which made it even better.

Another special moment was when everyone surrounded us on the dance floor to Calvin Harris -Feel So Close. It felt surreal to be surrounded by our loved ones and get to witness everyone in a moment of joy like that together.

What were your favourite details?

Our florist really took the time to bring our vision to life in particular the baby breath arch over our head table. We wanted the flowers to compliment the venue and natura beauty of the California coast and she nailed it! Also, at our venue dinner is held outside on the deck overlooking the ocean and we added twinkle lights for ambiance which added a magical feel once the sun set. We did our first dance on the lawn with guests overlooking from above which helped make it feel more private for us.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t wait to start enjoying yourself at the wedding. Enjoy the lead up, especially the week of.

Any standout vendors?

We really can’t say enough about our videographer Drew at Scrap Media and photographer Christie (Christie Q Photography) and their teams. They both truly took the time to get to know us before the wedding and played a huge part in helping us feel comfortable and relaxed on our big day. I can honestly say we consider them friends.
