Melyssa + Nathan

How did you meet?

We first met on tinder as I was heading out for a girls night and a friend had downloaded the app. I had just moved to Perth and was super shy so she thought it would be a great idea. He was the first person I swiped right for and have never looked back

When did you know they were the one?

From our first conversation in person I instantly knew he was my forever. We talked for so long that we forgot about our dinner plans and it was passed 10pm when we realised! He passed the family meet and greet instantly and we clicked as if we were made for each other.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His smile, amazing dedication to our family and his dorky dance moves

Who proposed and how?

Nathan proposed.

I had been waiting for years when he finally popped the question at the beach on a stormy November night over fish and chips. A few weeks before after a friend’s wedding, he insisted we go look at rings after telling me that it would happen before the end of the year. I didn’t believe him but we went to the shops anyway, tried a few on and left it at that. The week he proposed, I had suggested a date night as it had been a while and he came up either the suggestion. On the day the weather was horrible but he insisted we still go and I knew it was on!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I loved my Bella dress and it was the complete opposite fit of what I thought I would love. I tried on so many Couture gowns that were a-line/ballgown styles but felt like I was drowning in material. When I went to Brides By Design, I originally tried on Scottie and Georgie but once I put on Bella, I instantly loved the simplicity and fitted, flowy effect it had. I have always been self conscious it was too flattering for me to be negative!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Walking down the aisle and seeing his teary, happy eyes staring back at me and also leaving the ceremony with our amazing confetti exit

What were your favourite details?

We went for simplistic with hints of gold/champagne. I kept this consistent throught all my details and live seeing the pops of metallic in the photos along with the lights reflecting. I also loved our ‘love’ sign, it was super romantic looking over the lake with the full moon and music in the background

What advice would you tell other brides?

Research what you like (the Pinterest world is insane!) And once you decide, stop there. Don’t feel the pressure to tell all your family and friends what to expect as its a nice surprise on the day and then you also won’t doubt your decisions so you can have your dream day! And lastly breathe. No matter what goes wrong, you will still have each other
