Megan + Ramsey

How did you meet?

My husband and I met in high school. We began dating in 9th grade for a few short months before the coast guard moved his family away. We remained together for the final 3 years of high school while being 800 miles apart. We relied on FaceTime and a few annual visits to keep us going. When it came time for college, Ramsey decided to apply for the same colleges as me and we were finally together again in person!

When did you know they were the one?

Everyone thinks that their first love will last forever, I just so happened to be right. But I knew for sure that he was the one, when he proved time and time again that he was willing to fight for us to last. He provided the stability, safety and unconditional love that I had never experienced from a man. He learned how to love me the way that I needed to be loved.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

My first favorite attribute of my partner is his sheer and utter kindness. He is so genuinely good that everyone he meets and knows, whether intimately or casually, can tell. He is also perhaps the most patient individual I have ever met. Whenever I am having a moment of irritability, anxiety, or just general uneasiness, he is always there to walk me through everything, one step at a time. Ramsey’s passion for the things he cares about never cease to amaze me. I may not share his exact love for computers, spicy food, and Star Wars, but seeing the man I love light up a room when he talks about these things never ceases to make me smile from ear to ear.

Who proposed and how?

He did. He told me that there was a new exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art featuring some of my favorite creators. Being that art is something I hold close to my heart, I put on a cute outfit and we were on our way. When we got there, a woman was clearly trying to take photos, which of course I was desperate to get out of the way for. Then, suddenly, he pulled my back to him and dropped on one knee. After a beautiful bouquet of roses magically appeared (and I said YES), he had a whole photo shoot planned. We followed up with a group zoom with all of our family and friends due to Covid.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my dress at Lovely Bride Philadelphia. I had tried on about 5 dresses prior to this and it was my 2nd appointment. I had felt beautiful in several of them, but when I stepped into my Lola gown, I was instantly a BRIDE. I got teary eyed and knew I immediately wanted to try on a veil. When I saw the two together, there wasn’t a question. I was sure right there! I could imagine the exact moment my soon to be husband would see me in THIS dress and knew he’d feel the same.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The best moment for me by far was listening to Ramsey’s vows that he wrote. We read our vows privately for only our photographer and this felt extra sentimental. My husband is not a man of many words, rather constant actions show his love. But he put his entire heart and soul into his vows to affirm how much I truly mean to him. Crying tears of happiness together as we professed our love will forever remain deeply engrained in my heart.

What were your favourite details?

My favorite details were the personal touches and decor items that reflected our personal style. We had about 30 gold frames that showcased photos of each of us as children, teens, and adults. It was such a beautiful way to display how we have grown up together, in a sense. My best friend and maid of honor, Kelly’s father so kindly made us a gorgeous, asymmetrical arch backdrop. We had it placed behind a green velvet couch and next to our Polaroid guestbook. It proved to be the perfect space to capture our family and friends celebrating with us.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Do what makes you both happy while also considering others. I believe in setting firm boundaries for yourself as a bride and not giving into every demand of your loved ones. But I also know how important it is to act with kindness and compassion, especially during such a stressful, but ultimately beautiful time in your life. Meeting people halfway can go very far!

Any standout vendors?
