Makenzie + Connor

How did you meet?

We met through mutual friends at a party. We instantly clicked. We spent the whole night talking, laughing, and getting to know each other.

When did you know they were the one?

I knew Connor was right for me when he met my family. He met my ENTIRE family at once: parents, brother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He fit right in with our crew.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

I know there is nothing in life that Connor wouldn’t support me. Anything I try, I know he has faith in me.
Connor is a “glass half full” kind of guy. He can find the good in anything and anyone.
He inspires me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. Whether it’s new places, new foods, or new thoughts, Connor always encourages me to be spontaneous and adventurous.

Who proposed and how?

Connor proposed at my grandparents house (the same house where he first met my entire family). It’s a house on the river that my family has been gathering at for 20+ years. He had all of my cousins, my brother, and my friends hold letters spelling out “Will you marry me?” on the top deck. He was in the yard on a blanket covered in rose petals.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I found my dress in Kentucky. I had tried on maybe 20 dresses and nothing had “clicked” yet. The woman helping me brought out a dress and said “This one is brand new. You might like it!” I almost said no, but gave it a try anyways. Instantly, I knew it was my dress. I felt like a princess.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

We got married on the beach in Florida. Both of our extended families joined us. The best part was looking around at what love can build and where it can take you. I loved seeing all of the people that had to fall in love so that Connor & I would one day find each other.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Be YOU! You don’t have to follow everything you’re “supposed to do” to a T. Make your day your all’s fairy tale, dream wedding. Don’t think your ideas are silly. Have the best day of your life!
