Madi + Lachy

How did you meet?

We are high school sweethearts!

When did you know they were the one?

Backpacking through Asia at 19.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Unwavering, unconditionally supportive and kind.

Who proposed and how?

Lachy proposed on a random Thursday. He picked my up from my sisters and said we were going out to dinner. I’d didn’t guess what was happening (we’ve been together almost 10 years now) until he put a blindfold on me. He lead me down a bush track in Cape Shank and proposed as La Vie En Rose played. We bought a bottle of wine in the US that he saved for this moment. AMAZING.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

The Louie flowy was my dream dress. I went into the Melbourne store and said ‘that’s the dress I’ll get, should I try it first of last?’
I knew I wanted something fun and comfortable but also romantic and detailed.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

My husband is a drummer so I took secret drum lessons to surprise him at our wedding. Our drummer at the wedding Sam taught Lachy as a teenager and I had so much fun with him teaching me too. Lachy was so shocked and our guests loved it. We haven’t stopped talking about it!

What were your favourite details?

The band were amazing! Dance floor was a big hit.
We served cocktails all night – espresso martini got everyone dancing!!
Our friends from Gather Round gifted us their Gelati Cart. Everyone LOVED it!

What advice would you tell other brides?

Do you own thing. As a couple choose your important things, and stick to those. We didn’t play by the rules. We went for coffee the morning of our wedding together to give each other a gift, I didn’t throw my bouquet and I didn’t wear silky white pyjamas to get ready. Our day was so us.
My bridesmaids were amazing. I wanted them to feel comfortable and like themselves. I said no rules for them. Wear whatever shoes you want, have your hair how you want. One of my bridesmaids has a 9 week old baby, and she did AMAZING.

Any standout vendors?

The Wool Mill and Nudo. Our wedding planner Ashleigh and coordinator Amy were amazing. We relaxed and enjoyed every second of our day and all of the wedding planning (even though we booked 2 months before). They had it covered and it was perfect!
Scott from Art of Grace was our photographer. He was the perfect vibe for us and the photos are incredible.
Lachy Films did our videography. He was AMAZING, we can’t wait to see what he comes up with.
