Lexi + JJ

How did you meet?

We met in September of 2018. My best friend Emily and I had gone to a youth night service at Red Rocks church Thursday September 5th. After the service, we wanted to go grab a glass of wine and watch the first Thursday Night Football game. We headed to a classic spot in Denver, Postino and headed next door to Recess and found the game playing at the bar. When I sat down, I looked up and saw the most handsome guy I have ever seen. JJ was sitting across the bar with one of his friends, also watching the game. Now, the best part of this story is that the message at church was all about living your life in the ‘deep end’ and not missing out. I was encouraged by a few glasses of wine and lots of support from Emily to approach the cute guy on the other side of the bar. He was cheering for the eagles, so I had a natural in! After I approached JJ, said my spiel and sat down, the rest was history. We began dating shortly after that night and haven’t looked back.

Special thank you to – the Eagles + Red Rocks Church + Recess Beer Garden!

Who proposed and how?

JJ proposed to me in Marco Island, FL! I am tough to surprise, mostly because I LOVE surprising people so I know what to look out for. But he knew I wanted my parents there, so he set it up for Easter weekend, knowing that I’d think my parents couldn’t come to Florida since they’d be in PA with the rest of my family. He was right. His mom wanted some family beach photos that night, I thought nothing of it. Turns out the entire photoshoot was for me! After some family shots, the photographer said, OK JJ and Lexi lets grab a picture of you guys. Before I knew it JJ was whispering in my ear the sweetest words, and after that on one knee. Tears. many tears. Then my parents appeared after hiding on the beach. Second best day of my life. (Wedding = #1)

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

Well – I fell in love with two MWL gowns. The first was Lola. I originally thought she’d be my ceremony gown. Sparkly, light, form fitting but not too much. I tried her on here in Denver and my friends and I all knew she was the one. (or I guess part of the one!!) Then I went home to PA and shortly after I bought Lola, Elsie was released…I was like, wow that is a perfect dress for my ceremony I think I need to try it on. I took my sisters and mom to a shop in PA, tried on Elsie Flowy and the rest was history. Elsie for the ceremony, Lola for the reception. I had Lola tailored to add a slit in the leg and the train cut off – it was a perfect MWL day and mix.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

We had a private last dance to end the night. We swayed and cried and held each other. Truly, could not recommend a private last dance more. IT WAS SO SPECIAL. Best memory and feeling knowing we finally were husband and wife.

What were your favourite details?

The bows on Elsie flowy, the pebble undertones of Elsie, the small belt and low back of Lola…..ALL OF IT!!

What advice would you tell other brides?

Soak in every moment. Don’t sweat the small stuff. End your wedding with a private last dance…

Any standout vendors?

My photographer was truly the guide of the day – she had my back, hyped me up when I was getting sweaty in the Florida sun, kept everyone on schedule, and captured the best photos. Amanda Naylor, https://amandanaylorphoto.com/
