Leilani + Carl
How did you meet?
My husband Carl and I met through my best friend. She worked with him and at the time was single so she used to take me as her plus one to work social events. We met a couple of times and on one occasion, a boozy race day, we jokingly started calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend all day with it becoming a running joke.
When did you know they were the one?
There was no one moment, more so a collective of moments where I realised there was no drama, no hiding his feelings, no playing any games, it was always real and fun with him.
What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?
Genuine, patient, loving
Who proposed and how?
My husband proposed at our home where we’ve shared so many memories, by putting my dog in a tuxedo, having my favourite flowers and wine, and having a night in the city booked and ready to go to celebrate
Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?
My 5th bridal showroom visit over a 2 week period. I had a few of your options in mind that I had seen online, and had not even considered the Archie. It was suggested, so I tried it on and fell in love. It was understated elegance, but still sexy. The Rosey veil was purchased as an option only, and I was so adamant I didn’t want to wear a veil up until about an hour before I walked down the aisle. I put it on and it just added another level to my look.
What was the best moment for you at your wedding?
Once the party started and we all got to dance and really celebrate.
What were your favourite details?
My florals were amazing. The thing I was looking forward to see the most, and unlike everything else I meticulously planned and had chosen, I let my florist do her thing. When I walked into the chapel and then later into the reception marquee, I was blown away.
What advice would you tell other brides?
Do what you want to do. It’s 2022, you don’t need to be traditional and follow what all other brides have done before you. There are literally no rules.
Any standout vendors?
My florist – Fontana Floral, and my photographer, River & Me Wedding Co
