Laura + Marvin

How did you meet?

We were introduced through mutual friends but both too shy to talk to each other at first! My sister was the ultimate wingwoman. Whilst out having drinks one Sunday afternoon, I slipped away to the bathroom for a minute and while I was gone and without my knowledge, she had told Marvin I had a crush on him. The rest is history!

When did you know they were the one?

It was love at first sight for me!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

We share the same family values. We are both extremely close with our families and watching our families unite as one at our wedding was the most heartwarming feeling.
He goes above and beyond to provide for our family and is the most amazing hands on father to our two babies!
I feel my most relaxed and at ease when I am around him, he is my person.

Who proposed and how?

Marvin proposed to me – very “unromantically” but I wouldn’t expect anything else, to me it was perfect. At home one Saturday morning in my pajamas, no bra and crazy bed hair! I had our newborn on my hip and our toddler climbing all over me. But I have been so grateful to have our babies experience the journey with us!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I made a special trip to the Gold Coast boutique whilst on holiday in Brisbane, my girlfriend offered to drive me to the coast as Made With Love had always been an ultimate dream of mine. We were greeted by Rosie who looked after us very well. Elsie caught my eye as soon as she was released on Instagram so she was the first one I tried on, I could not stop thinking about her so I knew she was the one! I loved changing up the look of the dress swapping between the veil and the detachable bows!

What was the best moment for you at the wedding

My partner is Cook Island/Māori, so our wedding was full of love and culture. Sitting back and watching my family experience their cultural performances for the first time was very emotional.

What were your favourite details?

I had a wedding planner/stylist who I collaborated with sharing ideas via Pinterest throughout the planning process, but seeing it all come together on the day was a total surprise for me and it was everything I had imagined plus more! It took me a while to pick my jaw up off the floor when I saw my flowers for the first time!
Also, when having my dress altered, the seamstress used some of the excess lace she had cut off from my dress and added it to my daughters flower girl dress, so she could also wear a part of my dress. It was very special.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Enjoy every single moment! Take a step back to take a deep breath, particularly grab your partner and take a minute together. Absorb everything. Everything you’ve worked so hard for a dreamed of, right here in this moment. Watch the smiles on your family and friends coming together uniting as one. These are the moments we live for.
