Kelley + Austin

How did you meet?

Austin and I met in college at a mutual friend’s Halloween party. I was dressed as Rachel from Friends, and Austin came up to me and said “I love your costume!”. We hung out the rest of the party and went on our first date about a week later.

When did you know they were the one?

I graduated college a year before he did, and our relationship turned long distance after about 6 months of being together. I knew after the first few months of long distance it was going to work out because even though we weren’t in the same state, we continued to grow and become closer.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Austin is so supportive, caring and comforting.

Who proposed and how?

Austin proposed while we were on a trip visiting his brother and sister in law in Colorado. We were on a hike and when we got to the top, he asked! The views were amazing in the middle of the summer and knowing how hard he worked to keep it a secret made it extra special.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I found my dress at a&be bridal shop in Dallas, TX. I initially saw the dress on Instagram and knew I wanted to try it on. I thought that the unique, 3D lace of Louie made the dress the perfect mix of boho, romantic and classic.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

For me, the reception was the best part! I feel like your wedding is the only day you have all the people you love in one room and getting to dance and talk to our closest friends and family is something I will never forget.

What were your favourite details?

Getting ready with my bridesmaids and helping each other do our hair and makeup was a great way to start the day. Doing a first look with Austin was something I loved and will always remember having a moment alone with him before the wedding.

What advice would you tell other brides?

For the wedding day, doing a first look is a great way to get nerves out and spend a little extra time with your soon to be spouse before the ceremony. Also, think about the people you actually want at your wedding. We kept it on the smaller side and we got to spend time with nearly everyone during the reception and it made the day more special. For dressing shopping, try on lots of different styles even if you know exactly what you want. It helps confirm your choice and might open yourself to a style you didn’t think you’d like.

Any standout vendors?

Our florist, venue and photographer were amazing!
