Kas + Cody

How did you meet?

Cody & I met while working as Wealth Managers at an investment firm… What started as best-friends-at-the-office, turned into something more after deciding to be each other’s dates for a Christmas work party. We danced the night away, and sparks (out of nowhere) flew (as cliché as that may sound)!

When did you know they were the one?

I knew Cody was the one for me, the first time he told me loved me- immediately.
He was my greatest friend for years, and I knew him in so many ways outside of our relationship- we were absolutely perfect one other (before even realizing that was the case).
Right then & there I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His positive, uplifting, & encouraging energy- which never waivers.
His ability to calm this worried mind of mine.
& of course… His light-up-a-room smile.

Who proposed and how?

On my favorite day of the year- Christmas Eve. He made a home-made video of us over the years…. Afterwards, he told me there was one more gift on the tree- and what I found was an ornament that said “Kas & Cody Engaged 2019”. I turned around & he was on one knee!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

At a shop in my hometown, called Ceremony Bridal! The owner was absolutely AMAZING with helping me find the perfect dress! I knew I wanted something timeless, yet modern; & MWL offered every single thing I had envisioned. There were truly so many MWL dresses that were beyond breathtaking! After trying on almost of them (more than once) I happily decided on the Carlie dress! It fit my personality perfectly. From here, we added the MWL tulle wings, and I also purchased the stunning Carlie veil (which I later had my seamstress turn into a detachable skirt which flowed from my waist to just past the train of the dress). It looked incredible. MWL’s accessories are one of a kind and so unbelievably beautiful.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

Walking down the aisle & seeing him, staring back at me (with tears in his eyes, ugh). From the time I woke up that day, to just before I locked eyes with my soon-to-be-hubby, I was *so* nervous & feeling *so* nauseous. But the moment I saw him, that all washed away. 🙂

What were your favourite details?

The florists touches (Art & Bloem). Wow, they brought my dreams to life. From creating a cloud like arbour out of baby’s breath & spray roses, to the centrepiece’s on the tables, to the trimmings on the signage, to my gorgeous bouquet…. They did everything beyond perfectly. The moment Art & Bloem arrived at my venue & opened up their van- which was busting at the seems with all of the beautiful arrangements & flowers- I sobbed tears of joy, simply over how STUNNING everything was…. They brought my visions to life so easily. Art & Bloem were/are absolutely FABULOUS.

What advice would you tell other brides?

The biggest & most important advice I can give: On the morning/afternoon before you head down the aisle- enjoy every moment of your day…. Breathe it all in. & stop worrying. I promise you, the anxiety & pressure leading up to the best-day-of-your-life, will immediately melt away the second you see your hubby-to-be… so enjoy EVERY moment & try to leave the worries & nerves at home

I was so unbelievably blessed to have the best in the business. As mentioned, our florists- Art & Bloem. They created thee most amazing pieces & had an unbelievable amount of patience with me as we maneuvered & changed our wedding day (and style) due to Covid. They brought my entire vision & mood board to life. Eleven out of ten for their services!
Our photographer- Laura Joy Photography. She is incredible! Laura makes every one feel like a stunning model out of VOGUE, and has a way of allowing you to feel instantly comfortable. She took my “modern bride” vision and ran with it in the best ways possible. An amazing photographer who I would recommend to anyone! She is so patient, warm & kind- and is truly the best in the bizz.
Our Officiant- was such a wonderful human (& also had a hand in calming my nerves at the Rehearsal Dinner). 🙂
My Venue, Nestleton Waters Inn. Not only is it absolutely stunning…but they also took SUCH good care of me & my girls, and made me feel like an absolute princess. The day went off without a single hitch & it was all because of the wonderful staff here.
