Jillian + Nirav
How did you meet?
Nirav and I met at a tailgate for our school’s homecoming game! I was with one of my good friends, who later became my bridesmaid, and she introduced us! We hit it off but didn’t exchange numbers until running into each other again a few weeks later. It was meant to be!!
When did you know they were the one?
One night I found myself telling Nirav something I never shared with anyone before and the way he reacted with such love made me realize I wanted to marry him!
What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?
He’s incredibly caring, adventurous and understanding.
Who proposed and how?
I was studying in England for a month and Nirav came to visit me the last week. We went to London to meet up with my parents and he took me to the Globe Theater. As an English lit teacher and a nerd, I love Shakespeare. London is my favorite place in the world and I was just so overwhelmed, I couldn’t stop crying all day!
Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?
I got my dress at the White Dress by The Shore in Connecticut, US. I tried on the flowy version of Riley at a different store and couldn’t stop thinking about it. I had no idea it came in fitted!! When I went to TWD, I asked if I could try that on. They only had the fitted version and I knew as soon as I put it on that it was the one. My friends and mom gasped when I came out which really sealed the deal. And then TWD brought out the removable skirt and I fell in love with the idea of having TWO wedding looks. It was perfect.
What was the best moment for you at your wedding?
My favorite moment was the moment right after the ceremony. I was walking up the aisle and looking at everyone’s smiling faces and just feeling really humbled that everyone was there to cheer on me and my new husband! Immediately after the ceremony, nirav and I had a few moments alone together and then with our bridal party and parents. It was just the perfect way to start our marriage.
What were your favourite details?
My favorite details from the wedding were the flowers. I love florals which is probably why I loved Riley so much. The flowers that our florist put together were bright and cheery, which was perfect for a wedding on the water and for life after COVID!
This is also not a “detail” but Nirav and I love hosting parties-our wedding ended up being our 4th annual 4th of July (American independence) party. With our 3 nights of celebrations (welcome/rehearsal dinner night, Indian dance night, and wedding) I’d say it was pretty epic!
What advice would you tell other brides?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Things will happen and things will go wrong. Accept it, embrace it and you’ll be in a better mindset. Also don’t worry about it being the best day of your life. Putting that pressure on yourself is a disaster waiting to happen.
