Jess + Peter

How did you meet?

We met on a camping trip for NYE, my cousin invited me to go with her and her friends last minute because I didn’t want to go clubbing with my friends, and he was one of her friends! We clicked from the first day.

When did you know they were the one?

He’s caring, always puts me/our family first and is extremely hard working.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His wit, his intelligence (including emotional), and his dedication to our relationship.

Who proposed and how?

He proposed, we were living in Canada at one of the ski resorts for 6 months and he kept trying to propose on top of the mountain but in true me fashion – I kept ruining it!! He wanted to take me to this specific spot and I refused because it was too steep/I was too cold/many excuses anytime he tried to take me there… then COVID hit and the mountain closed and we had to come home! So on the last day of our extended 24 days in quarantine, he thought stuff it and just asked me then!! Just us, in the house. It was perfect even though it wasn’t what he planned.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I actually am a rare breed of bride and I fell in love with my dress before going to the boutique and knew it was the one I wanted! I had done my research and new I wanted a MWL dress, I also knew I wanted Harlow! She is just spectacular. I tried her on, and was in love but I was hesitant about the original neckline!! Luckily the lovely lady in the store advised me I could have the neckline of another dress I’d tried on (deep V) and I was sold!! I’m so happy with my choice and am still so obsessed with my dress.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

For me there is two.
1. When my Husband did a speech. We aren’t big verbal communicators (we don’t write long heart felt cards or notes etc we are an actions love language couple) and he is not great with words but he really wanted to make a speech and it was just so special and beautiful and meant so much to hear everything he said! Because it’s not normally how we express ourselves it was very special.
2. My mum used to be a singer and she is incredible at it.. she got up and sang a few songs with the band and I was nearly in tears it was so great!!

What were your favourite details?

The little things made it amazing for me! The views from the venue were second to none. We had a donut tower instead of a cake and that was so yum and fun to snack on! The photobooth also was so much fun! The little things made it a night to remember for me.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Excuse my language but F*** everyone else and do what makes you and your partner happy. A lot of people in our life didn’t approve of the low key wedding style we had (we didn’t do a cake cutting, we didn’t do a first dance, we didn’t write our own vows etc) but we had the best day of our life and are so happy we planned a wedding we wanted not one we thought we had to/everyone else wanted.

Any standout vendors?

Honestly I had a vendor dream team!! Not one vendor was a let down they were all amazing but special mention to our photographer (Dan Brannan Photography) and videographer (Apertura Studios) and our celebrant (Kat Sillars). All three are amazing at what they do but also amazing people, they contributed to such a fun vibe on our day and it wouldn’t have been the same without them.
