Jane + Ryley

How did you meet?

Ryley & I met at boarding school in Adelaide we are both country kids. We knew each other for 2 weeks before Ryley asked me to be his gf and have been together ever since.

When did you know they were the one?

Not really a time it hit, we grew up through our teenage years together and we’re each other’s best friend which came with a special love.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Caring, determined, skillful.

Who proposed and how?

Ryley took me to a beach, had to time waste a little due to family gathering at our house, got me to walk up a sand dune and proposed as we were almost at the top. So so lovely going home to my parents, both of our best friends then telling his parents together.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I had been watching the MWL Instagram page for a couple of years and loved the fabric of Louie. I went to Adelaide Bridal collective tried on 5 other dresses and left Louie for last and when I put it on my mum, bridal party and I all knew it was the one.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Walking down the aisle with my Dad to Ryley and seeing his face was one of the most surreal feelings that I will never forget. Having all our friends and family there that we love seeing that moment with us was the best feeling ever.

What were your favourite details?

My dress and our bridal table back drop had similar textures to them. We also had a hexagon wedding cake in my parents wedding cake tins to match our hexagon wedding arbour that Ryley made.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Have honest conversations with your family and bridal party in the weeks leading up to the wedding so everyone can ask questions then – I found it helped slow the questions during the couple of set up days before the wedding.

You’ve planned this day for your selves with all of the people you want and love there – HAVE FUN!! Enjoy every moment of it as everyone says the day is there and gone before you know it!

Any standout vendors?

We can’t go past our cousin being our photographer – taking a usual relaxing day with her family watching her cousins getting married to her and husband both getting behind the lenses to capture our day so incredibly – Renni Maitland Photography.
