Indira + Matt

How did you meet?

Matt and I are classic high school sweethearts. We met in grade eight and became friends throughout the years until Matt asked me out in grade twelve. That was back in 2013 and we have been together since.

When did you know they were the one?

Over our nine years together, there were many points where I knew Matt was the one. His unconditional love and support in every situation is something I have never taken for granted. When life becomes hard, Matt is always there and has never let me down. We have also moved towns together and bought our first property together with room for my horses! I definitely knew he was the one when he committed to the horses too!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Matt is the kindest, most loyal, loving partner. He makes me feel, safe, protected, supported and unconditionally loved and I feel so lucky to have him.

Who proposed and how?

Matt proposed on the 31st May 2020. He created the most amazing bonfire and dinner on our property under the stars. It was beautiful and he chose to do it on our seven year anniversary. It was perfect and was a night I’ll never forget.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my gown, Elsie, at the Made With Love boutique on the Gold Coast. The day that we were going to try dresses on was the day that Elsie was released. It was definitely meant to be. I remember waking up that morning, seeing Elsie on the MWL Instagram page and excitedly showing my sisters. Our experience at the store was fantastic and we knew Elsie was the one. I loved the beautiful detail on the dress, the cut and the fit. It made me feel beautiful and so excited for my wedding day. When I put the dress on, it all felt very real!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Walking down the aisle to Matt was the best moment for me. Seeing him and feeling complete happiness, love and excitement is a feeling I will never forget. I will also remember Matt’s happy tears as I walked down the aisle which still gives me goosebumps as his love for me is so strong and unconditional.

What were your favourite details?

Our florist created a beautiful flower arrangement which went up the tree directly behind us at our ceremony. It was such a beautiful addition to the day. We also went with a polaroid guestbook which was such a beautiful memory of our day. We find ourselves looking back at the guestbook frequently. The removable bows on Elsie was another one of my favourite details. I clipped them on after the ceremony as I wanted to remove my veil for the reception and they were such a cute addition! I felt like I had done a wardrobe change without having to change out of my dress!

What advice would you tell other brides?

Enjoy every moment of your day! If you have the chance, take a moment away from the guests before you enter the reception. It was nice just to take a moment together as husband and wife before heading in to celebrate with our loved ones.

Lastly, do yourself a favour and go to a MWL boutique when you are looking for your perfect dress. They have the most beautiful gowns and the staff are amazingly helpful and professional!

Any standout vendors?

I was very fortunate to have my sister, Denise McTaggart create the cake which was so special!
