Holly + Brodie

How did you meet?

We went to school together.

When did you know they were the one?

We are Highschool sweethearts and I’ve never pictured my life without Brodie. He says it’s when we moved out and we didn’t get sick of each other.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?-

He is hard working, loving and caring and outgoing (my opposite).

Who proposed and how?

Brodie proposed to me while we were holidaying in Cairns. On his birthday! He had planned to propose on a helicopter flight over the Great Barrier Reef but we were unable to touch down on the island. He only had a couple days left in our holiday- so his birthday was the day, which makes it so much more special! He also designed my ring. Lucky one of my best friends is part owner of Kadina Jewelers. Between Charlotte, brodie and my Mum they designed my dream ring.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

At Adelaide Bridal Collective. The store is incredible and the girls were so helpful. I brought my Mum and best friend with me. I didn’t have much of an idea of what I wanted. I just went around and chose one of every style. Nothing really stood out until I saw this one. I always like to try on my fav first and nothing compared to Tommy. First dress I tried on at the first store. I paid the deposit then and there and cancelled all my other dress bookings!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

We did things a little differently… we invited everyone to an engagement party on sat 12th Feb. but secretly got married the weekend before on sun 6th Feb (our 12 year anniversary) with only our immediate family. I loved our intimate ceremony which was so relaxed, all about us but we didn’t feel like we were on show for everyone. We were able to enjoy each other’s company and spend the day with our closest family. The next weekend we celebrated with our friends at our engagement party turned reception. I was so lucky to wear my dress twice!

What were your favourite details?

I loved our venue, a quiet little garden in the main street of Auburn. Such a hidden gem, perfect for our intimate ceremony. I loved how my dress suited the venue with the stunning floral like straps and lace, I still get so many compliments on my dress! I also loved the fact I got to wear my dress twice. I wore it for the ceremony and also our engagement/reception! We celebrated our engagement/reception at Sunny Hill distillery in Arthurton. Everyone was so surprised when they saw us all dressed up! It was such an awesome way to do it!

What advice would you tell other brides?

Take time out to enjoy the day. It goes very quickly. Do what you want to do! There is no normal these days.
