Hannah + Scott

How did you meet?

After attending the same birthday party, going to the same bar, walking in the same group for food- we finally met eating pizza on a brick wall at the notorious “Pizza Corner” while waiting for cab. Accidentally interrupting his conversation with another girl, we ended up talking for hours, playfully bickering back and forth before he finally asked for my number.

When did you know they were the one?

A month into dating- we got along so well, he constantly made me laugh, and made everyone else around us laugh. I love that about him. He got along spectacularly with my family, and despite being “the funny one”, was and continues to be the person that comforts me in hard times. I remember thinking to myself a month in- how crazy would it be if this is the guy I spend the rest of my life with? Turns out not so crazy after all!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His humour, his empathy, and his loyalty to his friends and family.

Who proposed and how?

Scott proposed- after a very hard week at work, all I wanted to do was get away. We love the outdoors, so he decided we should go hiking and start the day with some sunrise coffee. We got up early, headed out to one of the local lighthouses to catch the sunrise. There, he had to convince me to stand at the edge with him to look for seals in the ocean- once I was standing next to him, he got down on one knee and asked “Sweetheart, will you marry me?”

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

The Tommy Crepe dress was the very first dress I ever saved when I began looking for dresses. With its crepe bottom and lace top, it is both elegant and classic, but with a unique twist. I paired it with the Holly veil for a simple, yet chic look. Unfortunately it didn’t seem that there were any retailers in my area that were carrying the MWL line- finally, less than a year before the wedding, a boutique opened up carrying the line, with the Tommy dress being one of the first ones they were bringing in!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

There were so many! Getting to dance our first dance while our good friends sang it live and acoustically, was amazing. And our dance was a party that we will never forget!

What were your favourite details?

I wanted an elegant, chic look with a slight boho feel, despite our venue being in a rustic barn. We ended up going with dried flowers with very light colours, which popped against the dark wood of the barn.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Go with your gut! My final choices for our wedding day ended up being ideas that I had right from the beginning- I occasionally veered away from them, thinking I should go with a more traditional setup, but in the end it turned out to be the perfect day, and very “Us”.
