Hannah + Mitch

How did you meet?

Mitch and I met in Thailand on a trip with 20 friends. We didn’t like each other at first. A day riding around on mopeds brought us together! When we got home, we went out for dinner and a movie, which is something that we still do as our main date night choice today

When did you know they were the one?

I knew Mitch was the one early on in our relationship when I had finished a late night shift at a pub. The hot water had run out at home, so Mitch had a freezing cold shower so that there was some hot water left for me when I got home after my shift. This showed me that Mitch was always willing to put me first before himself, and that is something I had never experienced from a partner. I knew he genuinely cared for me and this made me fall in love with him.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

My favorite quality of Mitch is his humor. There hasn’t been a day in the past 6 years where he hasn’t made me laugh in one way or another. We can be having a dark day or struggling as a couple, and he will still be able to make me laugh. Another quality I love about Mitch is he sees us as equal. Everything at home is split up between us both (cooking, cleaning, washing, tidying up) which means we’re always helping each other. He understands that I work hard and I understand that he works hard, so we’re on the same level and I think that’s a great quality to have in a partner.

Who proposed and how?

Mitch proposed to me at Fingal Bay, which is one of my favorite places in the world. He organised a weekend away at my mum’s holiday house with some of my closest girlfriends. When we were at the house, I got a knock at the front door. It was our dear friends Qam and Liam, who had embarked on the 3 hour drive to surprise me with a puppy! Mitch and I had talked about getting a sausage dog for a long time, so Lillian the dachshund was the first surprise. Later on, we went down to the beach for happy hour. I wanted to get some nice photos on the beach with Mitch and our new puppy Lillian, so Mitch jumped at this opportunity. As my friends were taking pictures and recording, Mitch said “I’ve got one more surprise” and bent down on one knee. I’ve never cried so much in my life! It was such a wonderful moment with some of my best friends and I couldn’t believe how much effort Mitch had gone to. Fingal Beach was where we both said we loved each other the first time, the place that Mitch proposed and the place we’re getting married. It’s such a special place for us.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with the Elsie at the Sydney MWL boutique! Two of my bridesmaids sent it to me on Instagram, and once I put it on I knew it was the one.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The best moment of my wedding was announcing to our closest family and friends that we’re expecting a beautiful little baby in September, which has been the hardest secret to keep!! We all did a gender reveal later on in the night which was a surprise for us too, so the excitement was magnificent.

What were your favourite details?

My flowers were exquisite, done by a lady called Ash from Film and Foliage. I let her get her creative flair on and she killed it. I also LOVED my Christie Nicolaides earrings that I wore.

What advice would you tell other brides?

No one. Cares. About. What. Napkins. Or. Forks. You. Use. Haha!

What everyone remembers is the love that you radiate from each other. The biggest compliment I’ve received from the night was how much love there was in the room and how happy and relaxed we looked. Just realise that what will be will be with your wedding day, everything will happen how it’s meant to. No one has told me how much they loved my table numbers or napkins, because they just don’t matter in the bigger scheme of things.

Any standout vendors?

Sam Fregonese videography. I will forever recommend Sam. He radiated love and care on the day and captured the most heartfelt video.

Tatiana Rose Photography. The most laid back, calm, go with the flow photography that captured the BEAUTIFUL photos you see attached. Just perfect.

Ash from Film and Foliage. Such an incredibly talented florist.

Beauty by Rachael Lee. Rach does the most gorgeous makeup and was so calm and relaxed on the day.

Luke Zané Trio for music. I’ve had 1000 compliments on how incredible that played on the night. Luke’s voice is that of an angels and they are SO much fun when they play live later on in the night.

Saltwater Restaurant Fingal Bay. This venue made me so calm and did EVERYTHING they could to ensure it was the perfect and seamless day I had envisioned. They went above and beyond and the food was exquisite.

Salt at Shoal Bay. The most BEAUTIFUL house to get ready in the morning of. Look them up on Instagram, you won’t be disappointed.
