Gabby + Jack

How did you meet?

We both attended a mutual friends party to welcome in summer and the warmer, party season. Jack was the first person I saw when I arrived there. His soft, welcoming smile struck me straight away.

As the party went on, we ended up on the same team for some games and we both noticed the ease and comfort between the two of us.
A week later we went on our first date and the rest is history. He quickly became my best friend.

When did you know they were the one?

About a month in, I took Jack home with me for my grandmother’s 80th. He had already met my parents, but that weekend he met my whole family. He just slipped into the family like he’d always been there.

I could see myself with him for life and see our future together.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He is the most compassionate, caring man. He always goes out of his way to ensure other people’s happiness and inspires me everyday. He is my greatest supporter and confidant. He has a great sense of humour and knows how to brighten my day instantly.

Who proposed and how?

Jack proposed.

I had always been saying that a cheap, easy date idea would be to go for a picnic and a few months earlier, Jack was handed down a 100+ year old picnic set. We had bought a block of land to build our own house.
Jack suggested that we go for a picnic at our block of land before we started building. We prepared a little picnic and off we went.

When we arrived, we set the picnic up then Jack went back to the car to get the ‘speaker’. He returned with the speaker playing our favourite song (which was also our first dance song). He said, “this place was where we’re going to build our future together” and he couldn’t think of a better place to start our future together and got down on one knee.

It was a beautiful, private and intimate moment, just the two of us as we had both wanted. We then went and celebrated with family and called our loved ones.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

Made With Love Bridal at St. Ives in Sydney. I could not fault the service!

I tried on one dress before I tried on Remi, which I loved. But when I saw Remi on, I fell in love. She got me like a glove and sat so perfectly. My sister, mum and best friend were with me and all agreed she was perfect! I tried on a few different styles to be sure, but we knew Remi was the one and I said ‘yes’ then and there.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The whole day was amazing. Everything ran smoothly and we had the best party of our lives. It’s hard to pin point a moment, but seeing Jack for the first time as I walked down the aisle with my parents by my side, was so special.
I also loved our golden hour portraits. It was a beautiful, intimate time for the two of us

What were your favourite details?

We had a very minimalistic styling, with bud vases and plenty of candles for the reception. Which I loved as our venue, Goonoo Goonoo Station, was stunning on its own.

Our guests all said that a highlight was our cocktail and canapé hour. The venue staff treated cocktails and canapés as the guests mingled and played lawn games.

What advice would you tell other brides?

On the day, just think what will be will be. You’ve done all the ground work, now just enjoy your day.
Make sure you and your partner take a moment to yourselves. Everybody gave us this advice, and it was honestly the best advice.
After the speeches and dances, Jack and I stood outside on our own and took a few minutes to soak in the setting and our amazing day. It was such a special moment.

Any standout vendors?

Our vendors were all amazing to work with and the end product was exactly as we’d imagined.

Our photographer was amazing. On the day and in the lead up, she was amazing to work with and made us feel so comfortable. She was also a friend, a dress fluffer and some one who helped keep the nerves at bay. The end product was amazing! We are absolutely obsessed with our photos.

We could not fault our incredible venue, Goonoo Goonoo Station. It was so important to us to find a local venue, that had everything in the one location and accommodation for our guests. The venue’s events coordinators were outstanding, efficient and so easy to work with. The food was amazing and our guests raved about the accommodation. It was such a breeze as we didn’t need to go anywhere, all of our outside vendors came to us.
