Emily + Taylor

How did you meet?

Working together as 20 yr olds at the movies. We became great friends through lots of similar interests and before you knew it we always wanted to be around one another. Taylor likes to say that he managed to get out of the Friendzone!

When did you know they were the one?

Honestly, probably from the absolute start! But whilst travelling through Europe, he did little things that just made me feel so cared for and safe when I’m usually incredibly anxious and worried. Doesn’t sound like much but it meant a lot to me. We just balance each other out.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His kindness, loyalty to his friends and family, and work ethic. He’s loved by everyone 🙂

Who proposed and how?

My HUSBAND (yay!) Taylor proposed after recreating our first date from 7.5 years earlier: the 1000 steps in the Dandenong Ranges followed by Nandos – lol. We then went to Chelsea beach where we bought our first house together at sunset and the sky absolutely turned it on! He wrote me a beautiful letter and then got down on one knee. We were the only ones on the beach for miles, it was so private and perfect. Lots of tears and hugs! A very surreal feeling overall.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I always thought that my heart was set on the Ryder (beaded version). I made sure that MWL was the last stop on my list and picked Ryder + 3 similar gowns. Lastly, I just chucked the Lottie V2 in there for something different considering I’d been trying on detailed/beaded dresses the entire time. And it just hit me as soon as I put it on. It was so comfortable, and so much more flattering on my hips compared to the other styles – it honestly fit like a glove. I was so blown away and surprised that something caught my attention that wasn’t Ryder! It came down to those 2 dresses, but especially once we added the stunning Peony veil (Emmy Mae) it made me feel like I could have the best of both worlds.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

So hard to pick! Finally seeing Taylor at the end of the aisle, I’d missed him!! Our personal vows and EVERYONE on the dancefloor all night!

What were your favourite details?

My Peony veil will always be soooo special to me. Also, the last minute change to have my bridesmaids in a range of colours rather than just the one! Looked incredible in the end. Taylor looked incredibly handsome in his suit too – lucky, lucky gal.

What advice would you tell other brides?

So cliche – but try to take some of it in! It goes by so fast, I wish I could do it all again and just breathe. It was bloody fun though!! And just to do exactly what you want – it’s no one else’s day but you and your partner.

Also that MWL is a fantastic experience! From the beautiful showroom to the quicker than expected delivery, especially during COVID-19, the process was just flawless. Could not thank you all or recommend you enough.
